Ria Chandran was the first and only person to enlist the idea of "true love" to her granddaughter, Aamara.
Since Aamara could remember her grandma would take her to their secret spot, a place that would hide them from the rest of the world; from reality. The weeping willow held their secrets, their happiness, and most importantly their memories.
The most important idea her grandma shared with her at a young age was the idea of marrying for love. Which was a foreign concept in her religion. But Ria Chandran made it known to her that it wasn't impossible. She would constantly share stories with her granddaughter about her first love, and all of the memories they shared in the exact same spot they sat.
Ria Chandran loved all three of her grandchildren , but Aamara and her shared a special bond due to how she saw herself in the young girl. She could see the spark of curiosity that was hidden behind her eyes. Not many people noticed it, but she did because she had the same spark, but over time it started to fade. So the older woman made it her mission to help the young girl never lose hers.
Dan Alexander loved spending time with his three grandsons, but out of all three he loved spending time with Trent the most. It wasn't that he had favorites, it was simply because of the connection they shared. Trent's grandad would always mention how he reminded him of himself when he was younger.
Another factor that played a role was that Dan loved taking Trent to a hidden spot beneath a beautiful weeping willow. Where they would fight ghost pirates, play football, and occasionally lay beneath the trees and listen to the stories Dan would share. The stories that held memories that occurred years ago, in the same spot. The memories he shared with his "willow" that were stuck in the elongated leaves of the tree.
The single thread of gold that intertwined Aamara and Trent was brighter than either of them could imagine. It was entangled with an unfinished love story from decades ago.
