"You must become mine, Yoon Jeonghan."

There was conviction in the Prince's clear eyes. Surely, the man knew that the throne was a far shot. Ari was too strong. But to survive amongst the strong was a skill by itself. When had the child grown so much? Jeonghan clicked his tongue, admitting he'd ovserseen this. The youngest had created a strong character for himself while the whales fought to dominate the sea.

Jeonghan closed his eyes in resignation, nodding slightly. An ironic laughter stuck in his throat as he retorted, "Even if I swung that way, it wouldn't be you, Your Highness."

It was a tease, a joke to lighten the air. And Chan that has grown up observing his actions, understood pretty quickly.

"Wow, that's hurtful, hyung." Chan's familiar laughter filled the air. Recruiting the First Prince's former assistant wouldn't be so easy. "I assure you, I do not intend to use your presence recklessly. The situation you're afraid of will not happen. I only need your advice." The Prince looked around the place briefly before adding, "And your complete silence, of course."

The First Prince wanted his secrets kept. Nobody but his trusted were aware of his connection to Ari. The only reason he had opened such a huge card in front of the former assistant was because he was confident it would play in his favour. Yoon Jeonghan was currently highly distrustful. His loyalty had been tested at Seungcheol's office and valued low. Abandoned by his closest friend and confidante, Jeonghan would not walk on the path of easy trust anymore.

So, Chan had dealt his turn. His secret, a golden lifeline lay in Jeonghan's hands. It was upto Jeonghan to decide if the collateral for this barter was enough or not.

Jeonghan sighed, looking down at the television remote that remained his hand. Looking up at Chan, he asked one last time, "Do you promise to never use my cooperation as a means to hurt Seungcheol?"

The heartbroken sight of the First Prince before he had walked out flashed in Jeonghan's mind momentarily. Seungcheol had lost him that day. Surely, Jeonghan was angry at the decisions Seungcheol was making. But the bond between them could not be severed so easily. Even if Jeonghan could no longer stand by Seungcheol's side proudly, at the very least, he did not wish to inflict him more harm. It was the last string of loyalty that connected the Prince to him. He would not break it so easily.

The fact remained. Yoon Jeonghan would never stab Choi Seungcheol in the back.
