LUKE and Jack finally arrived home after their road trip, dropping their bags by the door. Jack headed straight for the kitchen, his stomach growling. He opened the fridge and was bombarded by a cascade of baked goods—pies, muffins, brownies, and cookies all crammed into every available space.
"Whoa," Jack said, pulling out a tray of cookies. "Did Charlotte open a bakery while we were gone?"
Luke laughed, grabbing a brownie. "Looks like it. Guess she kept busy."
Jack took a bite, his eyes widening. "These are amazing. Maybe we should leave more often."
Just then, Shrimp trotted into the kitchen, his one eye gleaming with curiosity. Jack jumped back, nearly dropping his cookie. "What the hell is that?"
Charlotte's voice came from the hallway. "That's Shrimp. He's harmless."
Jack eyed the dog suspiciously. "He's missing an eye and looks like he's seen some stuff. Are you sure he's harmless?"
Shrimp barked in response, causing Jack to jump again. Luke chuckled, giving Shrimp a pat on the head. "He's a good boy. Just a bit... unique."
Charlotte emerged from her room, smiling. "See? Shrimp's fine. Now, how was the roadie?"
They exchanged stories about their time away, Charlotte sharing her baking adventures and Luke recounting the games. Jack, still eyeing Shrimp warily, announced, "I have a date tonight, so I'll be out for the evening."
Charlotte grinned. "A date, huh? Anyone special?"
Jack shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Just someone I met recently. We'll see how it goes."
As Jack left for his date, the house grew quieter. Luke, having just returned from the gym, had his headphones blasting music and didn't realize Charlotte was still home. He figured he had the place to himself, so he headed to the bathroom for a quick shower.
Charlotte decided to take a relaxing shower as well. She wrapped herself in a robe and was just about to step out when the bathroom door swung open. Luke stood there, frozen, his eyes wide with shock. Charlotte, caught off guard and completely naked, quickly grabbed her robe and wrapped it around herself.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Luke stammered, pulling off his headphones and backing out of the bathroom.
Charlotte, her face flushed with embarrassment, tied her robe tightly. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart before opening the door and stepping out. Luke was pacing the hallway, running a hand through his hair.
"Sorry, I thought I was alone," Luke apologized again, his face a deep shade of red.
"It's fine, really," Charlotte said, trying to laugh it off. "Just a little... surprising."
Luke chuckled nervously. "Yeah, surprising. That's one way to put it."
They stood there for a moment, the air thick with tension and unspoken words. Finally, Luke cleared his throat. "I'll let you get back to whatever you were doing."
"Thanks," Charlotte replied, retreating to her room.
Luke went to his room as well, closing the door behind him. He leaned against it, closing his eyes and letting out a frustrated sigh. His feelings for Charlotte were becoming harder to ignore, especially after what just happened.
