Chapter 3

A friend can provide us a sense of belonging, comfort, and certainty that is difficult to get elsewhere, as well as satisfy our need to feel connected to others. Friendship is a very unique and important element of our life. Good friends encourage and guide us through life's ups and downs by lending a sympathetic ear, a helpful hand, and a listening ear. They stick by us through thick and thin. Friendships are an essential source of love, support, and strength that can significantly impact our life journey, regardless of whether we are embracing achievements or facing difficulties.

When it comes to friendship, Ella and Ezra are the ones who could top the friendship award because they always care for one another and a friendship like theirs is so hard to find and is so hard to compete with but somehow in their friendship it is Ezra who takes care of her.

"Babe, stop overthinking and sinabihan ka na ni Ella kagabi na you don't need to bring her medicines." Sabi ko sa kanya "What if she starts feeling the pain again?" Pagaalalamg tanong ni Ezra sa akin "Okay! You can bring the medicine that she needs but please be careful because Ella really wants to make sure that Vinn would not have any clue about her condition." Pagpapaalala ko and she gave me a kiss on the cheek before going back to preparing what she needs to bring on our trip.

Looking at her makes me reminisce about our very own love story which all happened three years ago.

Another year which means new interns are being assigned to us and I just pray that this intern would not be like the other interns that are assigned to me "Excuse me po." Napatingin siya sa'kin "Bago ka dito?" I asked at agad naman siya tumango "What's your name?" Tanong ko ulit "Ezra." Sagot niya "Full name." I replied and she gave me this smirk "Ezra Soleil" She answered "Soleil as in Sun? Nice last name." I complimented her and I expected her to act like all the girls in this hospital would act kapag binibigyan ko ng compliment but she seems bland and all she said is "Thanks." and I am somehow here left dumbfounded.

I realized how short her replies are and the fact that she can look at me straight in my eyes and not caring about who I am is kind of new for me kasi lahat ng bago dito sa hospital are either nag apply dito kasi kilala ako or hindi ako kilala pero nag kakagusto agad sakin and it has been like that ever since kaya nga di pa ako nagkakagirlfriend kasi halos lahat habol ng habol eh ayaw ko ng ganun but this girl in front of me seems so different.

"Do you know my History in this hospital?" Tanong ko sa kanya "No, I don't know you or your history and di ka naman po connected sa work ko and after all andito lang ako to work so I don't plan on getting to know you." Sagot niya sakin "Are you single?" Tanong ko sa kanya "Yes, I have no plans on dating." She answered with so much confidence kaya agad ako napangiti because it seems like I already found the girl na makakatapat ko.

We arrived outside Ella's condominium earlier than expected so Ezra called her "Hello?" She said as soon as Ella answered "Kakadating lang naming ni Chand dito sa baba." Sabi niya and then Ezra put her phone down "Is she okay?" I asked "You act so strong pero isa ka din naman sa nag aalala sa kondisyon niya." Sabi niya sa akin "Fine! You caught me red handed pero I must say na normal lang naman ito since you grew up with her and I grew up being like a father to her." I replied "Father talaga? Di man lang dumaan sa kuya?" Pagbibiro niya and we both laughed.

We both saw Ella walking towards us agad ako bumaba para tulungan siya sa mga dala niya "Why the hell did you bring so many bags?" Pagtataka kong tanong "It's because bag namin yan ni Vinn and he left yesterday after our sunset watch so I packed everything for him." Sagot niya and then I opened the door for her and she went in the car.

I started driving and I know well kung saan naming kukunin si Vinn meanwhile Ezra looked at Ella and I can see from here how annoyed my girlfriend is "Saan nanaman pumunta yung manlolokong yun?" Naiinis na tanong ni Ezra sa kanya "He's with him." Sagot ni Ella "And you allowed it?" She asked "How could I not? Let them be nalang after this atleast kampanti ako na may mag aalaga kay Vinn kapag nawala na ako." Sabi ni Ella sa kaibigan niya.

Ezra sat properly after kasi alam niyang wala na siyang magagawa since disidio na ang kaibigan niya "Saan ba tayo pupunta?" Tanong ni Ezra "Sa bahay ni Rhett." Sagot ko "Gago ka ba? Nasisiraan ka na ba ng ulo?" Sumbat ni Ella sa akin "Kung hindi ka niya kaya puntahan, tayo ang pupunta sa kanya." Sagot ko at tinignan ko siya sa rearview mirror and she just sat there.

We arrive at the place at kami lang ni Ezra ang bumaba sine Ella is not ready to see them together yet in which I totally understand "Good morning po!" Pag bati ng katulong ni Rhett sa amin "Ate, is Rhett and Chand inside? We have been waiting for them for about an hour na kasi tapos hindi pa nag re-reply." Pagsisinungaling ng girlfriend ko "Kaibigan ba kayo ni Rhett? Andito lang sila sa loob." Sabi niya sa amin at agad naman kaming pinapasok ka-agad.

We saw the both of them in the living room cuddling and watching a movie "Rhett, your time is up." I said out of nowhere agad nabigla ang dalawa at they sat properly when they saw us "Anong ginagawa niyo dito?" Tanong ni Rhett "Ella's outside and she's been waiting for you also do not think about saying that you cannot come kasi ang kaibigan ko pa ang nag pagod para mag pack ng things mo." Sabi ni Ezra kay Chand kaya agad ito humarurot sa labas.

Bumalik ang tingin ko kay Rhett na nasa harapan na naming "I am being nice to you kasi mag kaibigan tayo noon and I am just really doing this act nice thing kasi ayaw ni Ella na maging masama ang loob ko sa'yo." Sabi ni Ezra sa kanya and he scoffed "I do not need you kindness." He answered "Rhett, we've been friends so you probably know na kung gaano ka bait si Ella sa iyo ay ganun rin ka laki ang galit ko kasi ikaw na nga yung nangaagaw pero yung kaibigan ko pa ang nasasaktan kaya hanggang sa di ka pa nagsisisi o nasasaktan ay ako yung andito para saktan ka." Sagot ni Ezra.
