"𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎—"
The sound of a child's cry startled [name], bringing her back from her state of autopilot at the counter. She and Scaramouche shared a glance, the former rushing towards the kid with a look of worry.
"Hey, it's okay." [name] whispered, crouching down to the little girl's height. She gently patted her on the back, waiting for the kid to calm down.
"Can you tell me what's wrong?" The teenager asked slowly, helping the kid wipe her tears.
"I lost mama." The little girl sniffled, rubbing at her eyes.
"Ah, that's alright. I'll help you find her, okay?" [name] gently assured, rising back up and turning towards the other worker behind the counter.
"I'll take the girl to her mom. Are you good here alone?" [name] asked the indigo-haired male. Although, she would've left to help whether or not he said no.
"Yeah, yeah. Just help her before it gets dark." Scaramouche sighed, arms crossed. "I'll close today."
[name] smiled, holding the girl's hand. "I owe you one."
He rolled his eyes. "When do you not..."

The two took a lap and a half around the town. Unfortunately, the child—named Aoko—had failed to memorize her mother's number, so the two of them were left on a wild goose chase.
"This neighborhood seems bigger than usual..."
[name] let out a huff of annoyance, tired from both walking and holding the kid on her back. They had roamed around various malls for the past half-hour, basing their hunt on the vague description of the shop Aoko and her mother were last at.
Eventually, they decided to take a break near a fountain, sitting down with a drink in hand.
"Are you sure you don't remember her number?" [name] asked once more, looking down at the child beside her.
