The very next day Layla and her father walked through the dense forest, the sunlight filtering through the trees above them, casting dappled shadows on the ground. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming wildflowers and the gentle chirping of birds. They arrived at the Avaloria lake, its surface glistening like a sheet of glass, reflecting the vibrant hues of the surrounding landscape. Layla's excitement grew as she gazed at the water, her mind racing with thoughts of the story her father had mentioned yesterday.

"Dad, what's the mythic story of this lake that you mentioned yesterday?" Layla asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. She had always been fascinated by stories of mythical creatures and ancient legends.

Her father hesitated, looking around cautiously before responding, "Centuries ago, this lake was home to many sirens. They were said to be beautiful and alluring, but also deadly."

Layla's eyes widened in surprise. "Sirens? I've read about them, but I thought they were just a joke in this modern age." She had always thought of sirens as mere myths, not something to be taken seriously.

Her father chided her, "At least hear the story, it's interesting. One siren, Marlia, was the most powerful and evil. Her voice had special powers - it was melodious yet dangerous. She could destroy things near her with her singing."

Layla's imagination ran wild as she listened to the tale. She could almost hear the sirens' enchanting voices, luring sailors to their doom. "Wow, she sounds cool," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Her father scolded her, "Layla, be serious. Don't take everything so lightly. The world isn't easy-going; there are many mysteries hidden that you need to explore." He looked at her sternly, but his eyes betrayed a hint of concern.

Layla apologized, "Sorry, Dad. I was just messing around. Anyway, enough of the stories. Now, can I go and swim in it?" She had always loved swimming, and the lake's crystal-clear waters were too enticing to resist.

Her father's expression turned stern. "No, you can't. It might be dangerous. What if the sirens are still lurking beneath the lake's surface?" He glanced around nervously, as if expecting something to emerge from the depths.

Layla reluctantly agreed, but her mind was already racing with plans to sneak out at night for a swim. "Okay, Dad." She knew she couldn't resist the lake's allure for long.

Her father continued the story, "One day, a man who was mesmerized by Marlia's voice soon fell in love with her. They got married and had a child together, but soon he discovered Marlia's evil plan. He tried to kill her but failed; she ran away, leaving behind a haunting whisper: 'I'll find you...'"

Layla shivered at the eerie tale. "Dad, that's so creepy! Let's go today. Emma and I are going together to the fair that's being held on the beach side." She wanted to change the subject and focus on something more pleasant.

Her father agreed, but his expression remained nervous. "Okay, let's go. But be careful, Layla. I have a feeling something's off today." He glanced around, as if sensing something was watching them.

As they left the lake, a figure emerged from the shadows, watching them with an unsettling grin. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew, and the same voice echoed in Layla's ear: "I've found you..."

Layla startled, "Ahh! What was that?!" She spun around, but saw nothing.

But her father seemed unaware of the strange occurrence. "What?" he asked, concerned.

Layla lied, "Nothing, just a bug." She didn't want to worry her father, but her heart was racing with excitement and fear.

As they walked away, the figure disappeared into the darkness, casting a glance at Layla as if waiting for her to unleash her hidden powers. Layla felt a shiver run down her spine, but she didn't look back. She knew she had to uncover the secrets of the lake, and her own destiny.
