The year is 63 BCE, the Romans had been requested to intervene in a power struggle between rival Jewish factions and family disputes. Emperor Augustus had been beckoned to oust the then Judean ruler Herod Archelaus whose government was seen as an Ill treatment on the people.
Many other events unfolded with another revolt in Judea from 66-70 AD which many termed as one of the most serious protests against Roman rule.
Judea had been a Roman ally since the second century B.C and became a Roman province in 6 AD. Emperor vespasian immediately upon becoming emperor in 69 AD, gave his son-Titus charge of the Jewish war for which he was successful.
