Ty was secretly over joyed that he didn't have to go home. His dad took on some heavy drinking when his mother died and his dad is not a nice guy when he is drunk. All he seems to do when he gets home is drink and watch tv. Ty didn't dare to bother him for he knew that that would not end well for Ty. His dad sometimes got home and would go crazy on Ty for no reason.

One day, Ty had just gotten home from school and he dropped his bag if front of his door and got on his laptop since there was no homework. His dad then got home and was more drunk then you'll ever see a man. He slammed Ty's door open and realized his backpack was there and the first thought that came to his mind was that he was trying to block him out. Ty tried to explain that that's where he throws his bag everyday but that was no help since his father was so drunk that he couldn't think straight. Ty's dad then got his belt out and started smacking Ty across the face with it until he bled. He then told Ty to stay in his room until tomorrow morning when school was ready.

The next morning Ty was starving and got on the bus with some granola bars that he stole when his dad left for work. Ben asked what happened to his face and he just said he ran straight into a tree and they both laughed. Ty has always been bothered by this incident and he never got over the fact that his own father would do this to him. He just tries to forget it every day.

He then remembered he needed to focus in class so he stopped thinking about it and focused on Mr. Himmer. Ty liked Mr. Himmer, he was a nice guy unless you were disruptive in his class, which happened to be Brian's case. Of course Brian would make stupid comments while the teacher talked, it's what stupid people do.

Eventually class was over and Ty got to see his girlfriend again, which he was overjoyed for. He loved his girlfriend so much and would do anything for her. He then saw her talking to Brian and got a little ticked off. He then walked over there and asked her why she is talking to him.

She responded with, "I can be friends with whoever I want"

He then said angrily, "The guy torments me daily and you want to be friends with him?!?"

She yelled at him, "Well I'm not making out with him or anything so you can just leave me the hell alone!" She then stormed off.

Ty was really mad at her and couldn't believe she would do such a thing. She knows how he treats Ty and she has the nerve to just hang out with him. He then finds Ben and tells him about it. Ben was just as confused and Ty was. It made no sense to either of them, the day went on and Ty and Annabelle didn't talk until she texted him late at night.

She texted, "Hey I'm sorry, I don't know what got over me. I guess I'm just a bad girlfriend"

He replied, "You're not a bad girlfriend, just don't talk to guys who make my life a living hell"

"K"

"Are you mad at me?"

"No"

"You always say "K" when you're mad"

"I just don't like you telling me who to talk to and who not to talk to"

"Fine, talk to whoever the hell you want even if they torture me"

"K"

They both stopped talking to each other for the rest of the night. It hurts Ty when they don't tell each other goodnight. He wishes that he wouldn't get so jealous over the fact that she talks to Brian. Ty then lays down and tries to sleep but he can't. He just can't get the thought of Brian talking to Annabelle out of his mind. Ty then goes to his school supplies and finds a pencil sharpener. He breaks it and takes the blade out.

"I guess it's come to this again," he says as he pushes the blade against his skin. "I've been clean for five weeks and now it's all gone," he says as he swipes the blade down hard on his arm. He then does it four more times and goes and lays down after he cleans everything up so it looks like nothing happened. He can finally go to sleep now that he did this.
