Prequel:

It was a sunny day in the kindergarten Yuzuki was in. She was playing alone somewhere in the playground with her dolls. Even if she was playing by herself, she was content with it. She giggled quite loudly and happily when a young boy with white hair and red eyes approached her. He looked shy and a bit awkward but to her he was like the light of her life. Her face lit up with excitement and a big smile appeared.

"Hello! My name is Yuzuki, what's yours?" She asked.

The boy looked at her with surprise as his cheeks dusted pink with embarrassment before he replied. "My name is Shu."

Yuzuki patted a spot beside her and he sat down next to her. She handed him a doll which he hesitantly took. They began to play again but most of the time they spent, he didn't know what to do, nonetheless he continued to play with her for her sake. Once dismissal came, Yuzuki happily ran to her mother with her newfound friend.

"Mama, look at the new friend I have! His name is Shu!" She exclaimed. She could barely contain her excitement. Afterall, he was the first friend she ever made.

Umeko looked down at Shu and smiled. She patted his head and gently grabbed her daughter's hand. "Why that's lovely darling, but as much as I'd love to let you spend more time with your new friend, I'm afraid it's time to go home."

Yuzuki let out a soft whine and glanced at Shu. "Bye-bye, I'll see you tomorrow!" Then the mother and daughter walked off. Shu waved gently and sighed. He was now friends with the lonely girl- well, she's not lonely anymore. He was excited to see his new friend again tomorrow.

3rd person view:

Yuzuki was jolted awake by her alarm clock, she slapped her hand over the top and rubbed her face. She sat up and stared down at the ground before starting the day. She open the curtains in her room which made the sunlight shine through her window. She got dressed and tied her hair into pigtails with two red bows given by Shu on her 5th birthday. She was 9. Two years younger than him. She went downstairs and found her mother had prepared her macaroons for lunch. She grabbed the small container and shoved it into her backpack then started her journey to school.

She studied in ShinjuYori Academy. It was different to Beigoma Academy. They didn't have bey stadiums, they didn't allow to let students roam unless it was break. Worst of all, she had bullies there. They bullied her for being lonely. She didn't have friends other than Valt, Shu, and Xander. But Valt and Shu studied at a different school and the same school while Xander was at the Dojo of his grandfather. She was alone, which made her an easy target. That's funny. A target? That's what the bullies referred to her as. It's why she dreaded going to school everyday and often came home bruised. The worst part was on the way home, she always ran into Shu.

Once Yuzuki arrived at the school gate, she entered the building.

The day went by and it was normal until her bullies cornered her and proceeded to beat her for their own entertainment. They punched. Burnt her with a cigarette and even cut a piece of her hair off. These bullies or rather tormentors that Yuzuki liked to refer to them as were from the upper levels. Junior High school students. It was the same, she would come home bloodied but this time it was different. Asahi Omori pushed her against the wall and what felt like pain that could not be described hit her. Blood dripped down her head as she stood up.

"Shit, we have to go...!" Asahi ran off as the group followed him. Yuzuki watched them scurry off and fell onto her rear. She sat against the wall and panted softly, closing her eyes. It took her a few minutes to get up on her feet. She walked to the Nurse's office and the nurse bandaged her up.

"Yuzuki, I'm worried, what's going on?" Aiko asked and wrapped a bandage around the young girl's head. Yuzuki stayed silent and simply replied with, "It's nothing, Ms. Aiko...I just...fell down the stairs that's all."

On her way back, Yuzuki decided to go to the park where Shu always trained. She sat down and waited for him. Her head throbbed with pain, tears filled her eyes as she covered her face and sobbed into her hands. Once she spotted Shu approaching the bey stadium, she quickly wiped her tears and smiled. She waved at him which made him smile as well. She stood up and spread her arms out for a hug. Shu fulfilled her wishes and wrapped his arms around her. They hugged each other tightly. In reality he did see her cry, he just didn't say anything about it. Shu let her go and let her watch him train.

As the sun began to set Shu offered to walk home with her and she accepted the offer. When they began walking to her house, he took this as a chance to question her.

"Why do you always have a bandage on yourself every other day? It's getting concerning. I'm concerned about you, Yuzuki." Shu said. Yuzuki didn't reply and stayed silent instead. This made Shu annoyed and he spoke again. "Answer me, Zuzu." This made Yuzuki abruptly stop walking and turned her head to look at him. It was a nickname only he called her.

Tears once again filled her eyes, she blinked a couple of times and stared at him. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. Nothing did. It was as if her words were stuck in her throat. She wanted to tell him everything but she couldn't. She looked at the road and spotted her house up ahead. "Thank you for accompanying me, Shu...see you tomorrow." She ran towards her house and disappeared inside, leaving him alone outside.

Shu let out a sigh and turned the other way to walk back to his apartment building. Whatever was going on, he needed to find out. He just needed to. Shu reached into his pocket and pulled out a necklace with a heart shaped pendant. He saved up money just to buy the necklace. He wanted to give it to her but he couldn't find the right time.

Yuzuki was sitting against her bed with her knees pulled up against her chest. Her mind was filled with what just occurred. Oh how she just wanted to confess everything and lift everything off her shoulders. She questioned herself on why she couldn't say anything, with all the stress she buried her face into her hands and took a deep breath.

Perhaps she should end the day with a good night's rest.
