The professor peered over his glasses as he scanned his student up and down. "I don't see a problem, Mr. Kim."
"The problem," Seungmin started as he pointed to his paper, "is the grade."
"And?"
The musical student tilted his head. "Mr. Hwang, how does one fail a vocal analysis?" He slammed his hands on the desk, raising an eyebrow. Seungmin stayed up all. Damn. Night. Recording and going over his vocals for the extra credit. Something he loathes. Dispises. He would rather die than listen to his voice.
"You failed to write down the notes," Mr. Hwang raised an eyebrow, "the most important part. That is worth 30% of your whole grade of the year, Mr. Kim."
"That's so stupid!" He kicked Mr. Hwang's desk, fire in his eyes. "I don't know how to play the damn piano! Let alone know all the notes!"
"Then what has my class taught you?" The professor stood up, towering over Seungmin. "This whole unit has been about notations, Mr. Kim. Do you not pay attention? Do your homework? I had the impression at the beginning of the year, you followed all the rules. Or are you too busy looking at my son to pay attention to my class?" That took Seungmin by surprise. Mr. Hwang took his glasses off and nodded, folding them up. "You'll get a chance to redo that section in a month's time. Study up." He gave Seungmin a curt smile before dismissing him.
Seungmin stared at the desk he hated. He swallowed his anger and left the classroom. Then he ran back in when he forgot his things and paper.
He walked the halls of the art college, anger in his steps. He made it known he was furious with the glares he sent other kids. Maybe that was just his face as many have said. Either way, people avoided him like the plague.
The only person that approached him was his best friend, Yang Jeongin. The boy wrapped an arm around his shoulder and nuzzled his nose against Seungmin's ear. "Hello," he greeted. "Why do you look like your grade dropped-"
"Because it did," Seungmin growled. "Your friend's father dropped my grade to an 87!"
"Yeesh..." Jeongin rolled his eyes in annoyance. "So tragic."
"It is! It ruined my perfect record!"
"Seungminnie, I don't think that matters right now." Jeongin hugged Seungmin's arm tight. The younger boy was always so cute. Even angry. More or less. "It's not your final grade-"
"Well, I have a month to fix it." The music major student huffed. "One month. I can learn piano in a month, right?"
"It takes well over a month to learn piano. Maybe you can have Hyunjin-"
"Anyone but him."
"Seungmin, he helped me in architecture class." Jeongin pulled Seungmin off to the side. "He is a big help."
"He's also an asshole who likes to get in my face-"
"But you love him." Seungmin narrowed his eyes. "If you focus on him, maybe you can learn from him?"
"I don't think it works like that, Innie." He shook his head. It was a stupid, yet smart idea, if Seungmin was being honest. "And he hates me."
"After what happened?"
