The weather today wasn't rainy, but dark and miserable, and I was sore inside and out. My bed is highly uncomfortable, with the thin, poorly fluffed sheets and cushions. I don't even think it is my bed. The walls and furniture are so wooden you could get a papercut but looking at them. There is only one window in the room, and it's impossible to escape from. A tight-spaced closet with airholes that would reveal some of my face, is in the very corner of the room near the door, which is encased in chains and several locksmiths. Two desks have clues printed on them. 'Leave this house,' One was written in blood. 'Five days,' another one was in white. They have a fragile table beside them, - with a black, marble vase placed on top.
I dropped it...
At that instant, I crawled under the bed, covering my mouth with my right hand to try and keep my hitching breath low. There is absolute silence, besides a mysterious piano playing. My heart is pounding with adrenaline. But it doesn't motivate me. There is not a single thought in my head besides the question, 'What is going to happen next?'
I couldn't bother to look for an answer until a few moments later. The hag is so slow I might have time to peek out of my hiding spot for a hint. If she came in without me knowing, with her being as blind as a bat, maybe, just maybe, I might be spared without her noticing. Though, it doesn't change the fact I'm trembling everywhere.
Might as well stab me with a dagger to end the fear and agony. The need to break down in sweat and tears is overwhelming, but if I want to come out of the prison alive, I have to resist. Suddenly, I heard footsteps. I pushed back under the bed, knocking down the table in the process.
"WHERE ARE YOU?" It was Granny's high-pitched, slow, and hoarse voice that was terrible to the eardrum, who had unlocked my room to check and see if I was in here. It's been years since I've last seen Granny, and all I can see from under the bed was a pair of pale and grey arms holding a bat with red on the end, and a dimly shaded nightgown that gave off a horrid stench. I tried to muffle a gag.
It was a deadly game of hide and seek. Finally left the room. I waited a bit more to make sure she was gone for a while, giving me time to recover. Taking a sigh I didn't realize I was holding, I used the opportunity of an opened doorway to leave. How was I going to escape her apartment?
