"Lucifer?" He nods, as the corners of his mouth turn up. "As in fallen angel, Lucifer?"

"Yes Ava, that Lucifer." He watches me, trying to see if I'll freak out. Even if I was, I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

"That's the big secret? Why would I be Freaked out?" I tilt my head, wondering what tricks he's got up his sleeve? What's his end goal here?

"Wow, you are something else. Most people shiver, and shrink away when I'm in their presence. But you don't? Why is that?" He takes a step closer, as if that will change anything.

"Maybe, it's because Grim has already told me that he will be the one who ends my life. Knowing how or who will end your life changes things. You don't fear much after learning that information."

"Hmf, I'm surprised he's told you that already. Yet he hasn't done it yet?" Thinking quickly I come up with a lie.

"I'm not ready yet. He won't do it until I give him the go ahead." He nods with a smirk, his hand rubbing his chin.

"Well, I'd get ready Ava. Now that word is out about you, every being in every realm will be looking for you." I nod, turning around again and walking away. "I'll be seeing you real soon little one." I don't look back. I just keep walking until everything fades back to black.

Waking up to my alarm blaring in the room. I blink my eyes a few times, as the sunlight blinds me. As I try to stand up, the pain in my chest has worsened. My body feels heavy. I guess I have the flu. Great. But I need to get to work. So much has been going wrong lately, me not showing up with no receptionist could end up spinning everything out of control.

I shower, and dress as quickly as I can. Keeping my mind off of the aches and pains and focusing on my hair and makeup helped just like last night with the emails.

I get into the office building taking the elevator up. I lean against the wall after pushing the button for my floor. There's a lot to do, on top of hiring a new receptionist. It'll have to wait till most of his meetings are over.

When the doors open I walk out lifting my head to see the back of a red head sitting at the desk. "Hello?" To my surprise when she turns, I see it's "Vivian?" Her eye go wide and she immediately bows her head.

"My Quee-" I rush to silence her.

"No, no,no,no. Vivian, not here. Here I'm just Ava, okay?" She looks like she's about to object, "I promise you, that you will not get into trouble with Grim, okay? And no bowing either." I rest my hands on the counter in front of me.

"Okay, Miss Ava." I guess that's better.

"What are you doing here?" I haven't even put out a help wanted ad yet.

"Grim, he summoned me last night and told me you were in need of help, so he sent me." A ping of jealousy and hurt, hit my chest like a ton of bricks. He summoned her to his penthouse last night. What else did they do while he was summoning her? I shake my head trying to rid myself of the visions of them together.

"Okay. I have some things to take care of for the morning. Before lunch I'll go over your duties with you. Things I'll expect going forward. For now, just answer the phones and take messages. If it's anything urgent let me know right away."

"Okay, Miss Ava." She nods once. I take that as my cue to leave, and rush to my office.

When I turn the corner, I see the office door is open. Edwards is already here. Taking a deep breath before walking in, there's a stabbing pain again. I clutch my chest and wait for it to pass. This one was bad enough to bring a tear to my eyes. Taking shorter breaths, it starts to pass and I'm able to stand up straight again. I wipe the tear from my face and head in.
