Harper's pov:
* flashback for context*

"Well I don't know mom I guess I'll have to find a new roommate. I can't keep living with Jennifer, she's awful and she's always in my personal business." I say as I pace around my messy apartment.

"Let's not to mention how she never helps keep this place clean. Or how she creates the mess. Also all the Times she's rude." Mom adds on taking a seat on the couch.

It's awful living her with her. I wish I would have just went with my original plan which was move away with Paige.

I smile at the thought of my old best friend. We used to be so close and now it's just a phone call or instagram comment or two.

My plan was always to move with her to Connecticut but life happened and JD happened.

I thought my best bet was to stay close to home with my mom and Jennifer and me cheered together for Hopkins so I stayed put now I'm transferring into UConn instead of doing online.

Jennifer is now a monster in lipstick. Ugly red lipstick at that. She's the type of girl that peeked in highschool and just stayed there. No character development.

I can't keep up my apartment is too messy for anything I can't even think.
Jennifer isn't the most supportive either she doesn't think being an influencer is a job.

And right now she's kinda right I can't influence and work when my own house is an awful unaesthetic mess.

The other night was what sealed the deal for me, she was hitting on JD and JD didn't say a word. He just let it happen and stuck up for her when I bitch about our house.

Which pissed me off that point on i decided i needed to be on my own away from everyone here. I needed my best friend in the whole world she's always understood me.

"So is are you sure you wanna go to UConn actually and ready for the commitment of being on your own?" My mom says with a sigh before standing up.

"Absolutely, love you most but I need to grow up and staying here and never actually going to college and living as an adult isn't cutting it anymore."

"Well I mean I don't blame you, how about I give Paige's mom a call and see who her roommate is. I'm sure she'd be over the moon to have her girlfriend back" mom says while picking up her phone.

I blush to myself at her saying girlfriend, I know she doesn't mean it in that way. I don't even think mom knows Paige goes that way now.

"Paige doesn't know I decided to go yet," I say picking at my cardigan.

"HARPER!!" Mom says with a gasp as she covers her mouth. I roll my eyes at her dramatics.

"You didn't tell her!! Why not?"

"Well I was just thinking it would be a nice surprise if I appeared but then I got to thinking I definitely need a roommate."

"Yes you do, ima call her mom and ask while you tell Paige tonight! That girl is gonna be over the moon to have you back."  Mom says while picking up her purse and heading towards the door.

"Don't forget to start packing up now, you go in a week Harper." Mom says before shutting my front door.

I let out a heavy sigh and brush my hands over my face. Here goes nothing new life. New chapter.
