The Darkness Behind

05| Eerie Air

Once again, the red morning sun rose and its golden rays once again sucked up the deep darkness of the night. The warm morning sunrays fell on the girl's face and feeling the pleasure she slowly got up stretching her arms and then rubbing her eyes with her fingers.

"Good morning to myself!"

Smiling sweetly to herself, her eyes opened to see a beautiful new day but unfortunately, that wasn't in her fate. She jumped, seeing herself sitting on the basement floor and out of confusion, she looked here and there and saw the basement door wide open through which the sunrays were entering the room.

Without a moment, she recalled everything that happened with her the last night. Out of panic, she restlessly started checking her neck and her body, but there wasn't a single mark of injury all over her body. Breathlessly she checked around her, but everything was all fine, although she remembered clearly that she was severely injured and the whole floor was bloody.

" Last night, I can remember very well that I encountered a very weird creature. I-I don't know what was all that but all I can recall is that it attacked me and even mercilessly ate me up......I thought I w- was dead...b-but...n-now I'm alright?...... Oh my God! Wh..what's happening with me ?......"

The door, which was mysteriously locked last night, was now wide open in front of her eyes. Without thinking anything further, she got up, and with fears in her grey eyes, she looked all around the basement. Slowly keeping one after one step cautiously, she got out of the basement and slowly locked the basement door. She took a deep sigh, closing she eyes. Then, she slowly her eyes in a bright hope that everything was normal and all ok. But never she imagined of the sight she was going to face.

The huge wall clock was striking 12 and through the long, white, flowing curtains, the darkness of the midnight was seeping inside the room. Standing there like a statue with her eyes wide open, the girl lost her understanding. Drops of tears flowed down her golden cheeks and her whole body was shivering and perspiring out of fear. Gradually, she pulled her hand and wiped her face, and slowly she took a long, deep breathe. With her hand, she hit her head and began laughing in a stupid way.

" Okay! Okay! Now I understand what might have happened........ Obviously! I have a weird mental illness.....Oh come on! So stupid of me! I am a schizophrenia patient and I hallucinate often. So, as always I hallucinated everything. Father Hill's words had such an affect on me that I lost my stability of mind from my work so, I may have mistakenly entered the basement. And, as usual, due to my schizophrenia, I hallucinated the creature and that horrible scene"
