The whole town pitched in to put the party back together, and within an hour, it was like nothing had even happened.
Kids ran through the party with sparklers and butterfly face paint, splashing through the leftover puddles in their sparkly rubber boots, chasing the smell of cotton candy and other tooth rotting goods.
Several dads were gathered around the grill, giving Big Mac pointers as they gripped beer bottles in their hands, laughing loudly enough to make the moms roll their eyes from the other side of the party.
Pinkie Pie handed out desserts while simultaneously fighting off Rainbow Dash from eating all of the treats.
"Where's Rarity?" Apple Jack asked, snatching an apple cupcake from her brightly colored stand.
Rainbow Dash crossed her arms with a sly smile. "Why do you ask?"
A few kids skipped by and took a few treats from the stand, large smiles erupting from their faces when Pinkie Pie handed them a lollypop from her hair.
"I'm just wonderin. I ain't seen her around," Apple Jack said, stretching her arm.
"Last I heard," Pinkie Pie spoke as she handed an old man an apple fritter, "She was changing her outfit. I think it was something about mud or festivities, whatever it was, I can't wait to see what!"
Apple Jack blushed, trying not to laugh and loudly agree, constraining herself to just a small smile before stuffing it with a handful of cotton candy.
Everything turned out alright. Things were fine. Even after the storm threatened to ruin things, the threats were void and the sun still grabbed the earth back from its dark clutches.
Everything was okay.
It got even better when Rarity finally showed up in a lace milkmaid dress and a pair of cowgirl boots, still as sparkly as ever, her hair being the true center of attention.
The deep purple was the most richest and enticing colors; but even without it, Rarity would still look just as royal. She was clearly rich with something, not just money. A sparkling smile, soft lips, a heart of gold beating in her chest that reflected the warm glistening yellow sun.
A small "holy shit" slipped from Apple Jack's lips in a soft whisper before she could stop herself. It was a spell.
"You don't have any reason not to walk up to her right now and ask her out. Ask her to dance. Win her a prize. Just anything AJ, it's getting painful to watch," Rainbow Dash pleaded, grabbing her by the arms and shaking her.
"What? I don't-" Apple Jack said, her eyes wildly bouncing from Rainbow Dash to Pinkie Pie. "I don't like her like that. I'm just jealous, that's all."
"Stop lying to yourself!" Rainbow Dash sighed, her shoulders slumping as she followed Apple Jack to the ring toss game.
"I ain't lying to myself!" Apple Jack yelled, drawing slight attention from the passerbys, "Now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna win Apple Bloom this damn bear."
She did win Apple Bloom the damn bear. And then she wasn't seen for a while. Well, wasn't seen by Rarity.
And Rarity looked all over for her.

Everyone looked perfectly happy, but Rarity could feel herself falling apart again. Only, it was her own fault for falling for someone who didn't love her once again. She said to hell with love for the 5th time in her life.
