Rarity dragged herself through the dense kitchen and almost made it up the stairs when several voices rang out from the living room.
"Where's Apple Jack?!" The three girls asked, all of them instantly standing to their feet, eyes equally wide.
"Where the fuck were you?!" Rarity yelled, dropping her bag to the ground, her finger pointed in accusation. "How could you?!"
They all stumbled back, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie glancing at each other for a split second before addressing her. "We thought you two-"
"Well you thought wrong! We all thought wrong!" She cried, her shoulders beginning to hunch over as her lip started to tremor violently. Rarity's face twisted and deformed as she tried not to cry. "I was wrong."
Big Mac blocked the girls when they tried to console her.
"I'm sorry, Rarity," Fluttershy whispered.
"What did y'all do?!" Big Mac practically yelled, stepping closer to them, his hands propped on his hips.
Pinkie Pie's eyes began to fill with tears, her hands shaking. "We tried to set Rarity and Apple Jack up. Where is Apple Jack?"
"We thought you two came back to get the truck and... go for a ride," Rainbow Dash explained, pushing past Big Mac and squatting down next to Rarity.
Big Mac sighed, rubbing his eyes with his hands. "Rarity, who do you want to look for Apple Jack?"
Rarity picked her head up from her humiliation. "It's probably best if you go look, you'd know where she went."
Despite the fact that she left her stranded earlier, she was still worried sick. Apple Jack seemed off, and she didn't trust her behind the wheel of a car.
Rarity stood up, pulling the towel tighter across her body. "And while you're gone, I'm going to hunt down your whiskey, if you don't mind."
"No," Big Mac said. "I know you're in pain, but that ain't the way, Rarity."
Rarity started to cry again.
It was almost so much better to drown away the thoughts that decayed her mind. At the very core, it hurts to feel your soul shatter on the ground. You could always just stop yourself from feeling the pain altogether and feel happy instead. A miracle drug for the intense shadow of her brokenness that followed her. So simple.
All she needed was to drink it all away.
But then... she couldn't do that anymore. When your life becomes the shadow, the only way to brighten it is to drink. To kill the shadow is to kill yourself for a few hours.
Then everyone can see the shadow, but you no longer do.
She was a dead girl walking everywhere she went.
Rarity wasn't in Manhattan anymore, but she was still the same girl who knew what to do when shit hit the fan.
"No, please, please, just a sip. I promise-" Rarity pleaded, knowing she was making an utter fool out of herself.
The sight was a pity. A recovering alcoholic girl in a bikini, sprawled on the floor, her mascara streaming down her cheeks as she begged to die for a few hours.
Instead of doing what everyone back in Manhattan did when she showed up to a party drunk and broken, they moved closer to her.
Fluttershy was the first to wrap her arms around Rarity, then Pinkie Pie, then Rainbow Dash.
