I awoke to the gentle warmth of the morning sun filtering through the blinds. The previous night felt like a tumultuous dream—one that had left me shaken but also profoundly relieved. Colby and I had managed to find solace in each other, a source of comfort and strength that I hadn't fully realized I needed.

As I stretched and slowly got out of bed, the memory of the night before still lingered. Colby had been my rock, and our shared moments of vulnerability had deepened our connection. I made my way to the kitchen, hoping to prepare a calming breakfast for us both.

Downstairs, the house was quiet. Sam, Devyn, and Corey must still be asleep or out. I moved around the kitchen with purpose, setting up the ingredients for a simple yet comforting breakfast. As the aroma of fresh coffee began to fill the air, I felt a sense of normalcy returning, though the events of the previous day were still fresh in my mind.

Colby joined me in the kitchen a short while later, his movements still a bit cautious. Despite his wounds from the fight, he wore a faint, determined smile. I turned to him with a warm smile of my own, feeling a rush of gratitude and affection.

"Morning," I said softly, trying to keep the tone light.

"Morning," Colby replied, his voice tender. He approached me and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into a gentle hug. "How are you feeling today?"

I leaned into him, feeling the comforting pressure of his embrace. "Better, thanks to you. And you? How are you holding up?"

He shrugged lightly, wincing slightly as he adjusted his position. "I'm alright. Just a few bruises and scrapes. But seeing you safe is all that matters."

As I prepared breakfast, we talked about our plans for the day. The house needed some tidying up after the chaos, and we decided to take it slow, spending the morning together in our own little bubble of normality.

After breakfast, Colby and I went out to the backyard. The sunlight warmed our faces, and the gentle breeze was a welcome reprieve. We spent time together, enjoying the quietude and the small things that made life feel manageable again.

At one point, Colby pulled out his phone and showed me some of the footage from the previous night. Despite the intensity of the fight, it was clear how much he cared for me, and seeing him protect me so fiercely was both reassuring and humbling. I watched in awe as he replayed the moments when he had burst into the room, his face a mixture of fear and determination.

"I'm glad you were there," I said softly, my voice thick with emotion. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up."

Colby turned to me, his eyes soft but serious. "I would do it all over again if I had to. You mean everything to me, Blair. I just want you to know that."

The depth of his words settled over me like a warm blanket, making me feel safe and cherished. I reached out and took his hand, squeezing it gently. "I know. And I'm so grateful for you."

We spent the rest of the day enjoying each other's company, talking, laughing, and finding solace in our shared presence. The house, which had felt like a battleground the day before, now felt like a sanctuary—a place where we could heal and move forward together.

As evening approached, we made plans to have dinner with Sam, Devyn, and Corey, who were eager to check in and spend time with us. Colby and I both felt a renewed sense of hope and resilience, ready to face the future and embrace the next chapter of our lives with the support of our friends and each other.

The night was filled with laughter and warmth, a reminder that even after the darkest moments, there could still be light and joy. As we sat around the table, surrounded by the people who cared about us, I felt a profound sense of peace.

The events of the past few days had tested us, but they had also brought us closer together. And as I looked around at my friends and the love of my life, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together, stronger than ever.
