Poem 7 - the definition of no

They say the truth is defined by perspective,

that one person's truth is unique to themselves.

So, what twisted truth made my "no" mean "yes"?

What hidden meaning did he think I meant?

When I said no, my truth was stop, I don't want to

What was his definition?

To everyone I ask it's slow down, go back, STOP!

So why did he push further?

I often ask myself what compels people to walk past the line,

to cross the boundaries,

to not stop?

To snake his way through the tree blocked roads despite the warnings

He broke his way through the barrier, despite the walls I put up.

When I said no, and yelled I did, I meant go no further, turn back now.

To him it meant try harder, keep pushing, she'll say yes eventually...

I never wanted my barriers to go down,

for my door to be crowbarred off its hinges,

left open for everyone else to enter too.

Now I'm the house everyone else thinks they can steal from too,

that my door is wide open, welcoming them in...

My house was broken into, and I will never feel safe in it again.
