Slowly, Jungkook blinked his eyes open, taking in the sterile white walls of the room. His gaze landed on Namjoon, lounging on the couch in a plain dark gray shirt and light brown trousers, absorbed in a magazine. Catching sight of Jungkook stirring, Namjoon glanced up, tossing the magazine aside and rising to his feet.
"Hey, you're up," Namjoon said casually, approaching the bed. Jungkook attempted to sit up but winced at the ache in his arm and the sudden rush of dizziness, prompting a groan to escape his lips.
"Hey, don't rush," Namjoon chimed in, gently pressing his hand against Jungkook's chest, careful to avoid his injured arm. Jungkook glanced down to see his arm cradled in a blue sling.
"These things suck," he grumbled, sinking back onto the pillow, exhaustion creeping in. "How long was I out?"
Namjoon grinned, "Well, a month." Jungkook's eyes widened in disbelief before Namjoon burst into laughter. "Gotcha! Just kidding, only two days." Namjoon reached over and tapped a button on the bedside table. "Dr. Bon will be here soon."
With Namjoon's help, Jungkook eased himself into a sitting position on the bed, propped up by pillows. "Um, Hyung," he began tentatively, "what about Mom?"
Namjoon sighed, a hint of sadness in his voice. "She's been really upset, Kook. .... She cried a lot and just left after visiting you."
"I swear, hospitals are the worst," Jungkook muttered, feeling a wave of frustration wash over him. Just then, the doctor strolled into the room, sporting a friendly smile.
"Mr. Jeon," he greeted, prompting Jungkook to roll his eyes. "How're you feeling?" he asked, moving to stand on the other side of the bed.
Understanding the Jungkook's behaviour , "So, how's he doing, doc?" Namjoon chimed in, breaking the silence.
The doctor glanced at Jungkook before replying, "His heart rate's back to normal. The meds we gave him did the trick, but he really needs to be more careful,.....Your wound's gonna need a bit of time to heal," the doctor remarked casually, glancing over Jungkook's chart.
"And those drugs they injected into you?, oh they were heavy-drug stuff. Honestly, I didn't expect you to bounce back after just two days. ... You are a surprise actually...Give it about five days, and you should be good as new." he said, casting a concerned look Jungkook's way as he finished his examination.
Jungkook couldn't contain his impatience any longer. "Can I go home?" he blurted out, eager to reunite with his sweetheart, his love.
"Unfortunately, you can't rush it," Dr. Bon cautioned, his tone a mix of casual reassurance and professional concern.
"We've got to keep an eye on your blood work because of those meds. So, Mr. Jeon, patience is key here. Maybe we can talk about discharging you in about three days." He glanced at Jungkook, emphasizing the importance of allowing his hand to heal properly.
"Just take it easy. Push yourself too hard, and you might end up tearing those stitches."
With a groan, Jungkook shifted uncomfortably in the bed. "Can you let Mom know I'm okay? And where's my phone?" he grumbled, clearly disappointed.
"Don't be like that, Kook. I know you're tough," Namjoon said, handing him his phone. "Here you go."
Suddenly, Jungkook's expression changed."Oh yeah..., Yoongi hyung! How's he doing after getting shot?" he asked, concern etched in his features.
"Yoongi's doing okay now.... It wasn't some pro shooter or anything; just a leg wound," Namjoon explained casually. "Sorry for not mentioning it earlier, didn't want you stressing out, you know?"
