Darian stands on the frozen cliff, looking over to a portal that looks as though the area around him is cracking; a broken screen that splits the landscape in near-perfect fractals.
Even with the frozen howling wind whipping around him, its frosty bite would have sent any normal human looking for a bonfire just for their survival, if the fire can withstand the near impossible temps, he can still hear the howls of others behind him.
Turning around, he looks at the army before him. 110,000 of his people were ready to go forth to war against their former home. The shrieking howls of the Wyverns his people sit on, scratching and digging up the ground grate on his ears; the wyverns weren't the brightest, but they knew they were going to have a taste of fresh blood.
Even if the excitement of his people was near invisible he could see with their constant movement, the sun glinting off their silver and black armor, they were just as anxious to go as well.
"My king, The Gateway is nearly complete, within 2 minutes it should be big enough for the army to go through." Aklya Borne, Darian's head of R/D, announced, breaking him from his chain of thoughts.
"So this is it Aklya, there's no turning back?" Darian asked once again, worried about this choice he was about to make.
"My king, as much as I hate to say it, as Earth was my home once upon a time. But humanity made their choice. They choose war, so we must act in response." Aklya reassured him. Despite his age, this is his first war with other highly sentient beings.
Placing his crowned helmet on, he walked back to the edge of the cliff where his army stood at the ready. The cracking of the portal reaching an all-time high, he raises his hand.
10 seconds, 7 seconds, 5, down he counted till he heard Aklya in the background shouting the Gateways readiness. At the final second of 0, he brings his hand down as his soldiers fly toward the portal, ready to shed humanity's blood for their families and their homes.
