Chapter 05

Cara's POV
After the hospital visit, Bella and I were forced to spend a week at home to make sure that we were alright and didn't have a concussion or PTSD.

Afterwards, we returned to school on the day of a school field trip. Unfortunately, Alice and Edward were on the trip as well.

I planned to avoid them, but as soon as we got there Alice dragged me aside. I struggled against her, but she was stronger than me "Please, Cara! Let me explain!" She pleaded, and I hesitated, in part because of her strength pinning me to her side, and also because I figured she deserved a chance to explain herself.

I nodded, and waited for her to speak.

"I... I'm a vampire" Alice confessed, startling me, I had wanted to laugh and call her a liar but.... Enhanced speed and strength along with the otherworldly appearance and icy temperature.... Could she be telling the truth?

Alice told me her story about how she was turned and came to live with Dr. Cullen as we walked through the greenhouses and away from the group. I listened, keeping an open mind and tentatively believing her.

"Alice.... This sounds like a big secret" I started "Why are you telling me this?" Alice developed a shy expression. She reached out and gently held my hand "Cara.... In the vampire world we have something called mates, what you would refer to as soulmates" I looked at her in confusion before I realized what she was implying "Cara.... You're my mate!" Alice looked at me lovingly "I've waited a 104 years for you..."

I was in shock, I didn't know what to say or do. Before I could protest, Alice kissed me, and I hesitantly kissed back.
