Adam arrives at Avenue 50 Studio Inc. He knocks on the door. A man answers:
"Patrick Mills?" Adam asks. "What the hell do you want?" Patrick replies sharply. "I'm Adam Miller with the L.A.P.D. crime lab. I'd like to ask you a few questions." Adam said. "Make it quick, I'm working here." Patrick replied. "Are you familiar with a Rachel Maddox?" Adam asked. "I couldn't give two cents worth about her; That woman is psycho crazy." Patrick sniped. "She's dead, Mr. Mills." Adam stated. "Well excuse me if I don't seem too broken up over it." Patrick stated. "According to her fiancé, she commandeered your services for several pieces of artwork." Adam stated. "Yeah, but she didn't take them, that ungrateful bitch!" Patrick sniped. "Do you make sculptures, pottery, and paintings Mr. Mills?" Adam inquired. "I'm an artist. It's what I do for a living." Patrick replied. "Mind if I take a look at some of the artwork?" Adam asked. "Actually I do mind; I'm also starting to get a bit annoyed by you interrupting my work. So I suggest you get the hell out of here before I press charges of harassment on you." Patrick said smugly. "Sir, I'm a cop. Don't press your luck; I could arrest you for obstruction of justice right now." Adam replied sharply. "I've seen TV and I know my rights. You can't come in here without a warrant, not get the hell out of here!" Patrick replied. "I'll leave, but you better believe I'll be back, with company and a warrant with your name on it." Adam replied sharply. Patrick slammed the door shut. "What an asshole." Adam huffed.
Twenty minutes later, the C.S.I.'s all regroup in the briefing room:
"Alright let's re-analyze some of the evidence." Jack said. "We ran comparison samples on the shoe prints you got from Nathan Adams & Gus Clein to the shoe print we found in the art gallery; They don't match either one of them." George stated. "Dead end there." Ann stated. "We did however, decide to play a hunch." Melissa stated. "We ran a blood sample comparison on Gus' shoes, and the blood matches that of Gary Melvin." Adam stated entering the room. "Woah." Ann exclaimed. "Yeah, but we still can't prove he's the killer yet, we don't have the murder weapon and the evidence we got is still paper thin." Jack stated. "I didn't have any luck with Patrick Mills; He clammed up, slammed the door in my face and get really snarky with me." Adam said with his arms in an uproar. "I hope you gave some of that lip he gave you back." Jack said. "I gave him a parting shot or two; Verbally, not physically though." Adam replied. "I knew what you meant." Jack replied. "We might be able to get our warrants now, and there's another place that's worth investigating." Ann said, entering the room. "T.A.R.U. was able to pull these photographs off of Gary Melvin's digital camera; Look what came out:
Jack & the others study the pictures intently:
"Oh my god. That's Nathan Adams and Gus Clein coming out of the gallery with crates and...pottery." Melissa exclaimed. "That guy in the photo handing them the pottery, that's Patrick Mills!" Adam stated. "The other photo shows Gus and Nathan at a warehouse of some kind with similar looking crates. I can't read the name of the warehouse though.." Jake stated. "Let me see if I can help." Jack said, sitting down at the computer and using the enhancement software to blow up the image. "Western Appliance Warehouse." Jack read the fine print. "All this evidence good enough to get a warrant now?" Melissa asked. "Damn right it is." Jack confirmed. "Jake, get a search warrant and take Ann with you and tear that office apart; Leave no stone unturned." Jack commanded. "I'm on it." Jake replied. "Adam, get a search warrant for Patrick Mills' art studio, and take George with you, you'll need backup to keep that prick in line, and you know what they say: strength in numbers." Jack commanded with a tight-lipped smile. Adam smiled back at him. "Melissa, get a search warrant for that warehouse, and we go there...armed." Jack commanded. "Got it." Melissa replied. "Everybody know their assignments?" Jack asked. "Yes sir." The C.S.I.'s responded. "Alright, let's move out!" Jack commanded.Search warrants signed, sealed, and delivered.
Time to execute them all in the next chapter!!!
