"I can't wait to see you!" I say to my fiancee, Renee over the phone.
"Me too! Drive safe Y/n, see you soon." She says and hangs up. I always dread the drive home from work. Sitting in traffic for an hour is so boring, especially when I'm exhausted from the day and just want to go home. Today however, the traffic was particularly bad.
The traffic on the highway eventually starts to let up after about 45 minutes, and the cars begin to move a little faster. I press the gas pedal and thank God that the flow of traffic is finally speeding up, so that I can get home sooner.
As the highway reaches somewhat of a normal pace, I see a car in my rearview mirror beginning to get really close to my car. To be safe, I decide to switch to the far right lane to get out of the other car's way. As I signal to switch lanes, I notice the car speeding up a little more, so I hurriedly changed lanes to avoid a collision with that car. As a result of this, I sort of swerved into the lane instead of smoothly merging with traffic, however, I quickly regain control and continue my drive home.
Only five more minutes to go!
The rest of the drive home was smooth sailing. The four minutes go by and I eventually reached my house with no problems. I park in my driveway and get out of my car in no time. I unlock my front door, enter my house, and make my way over to the living room. I peak into the living room to see Renee, and my daughter, Lily, sitting on the couch watching Lily's favourite show Bluey. They are talking amongst each other, giggling and smiling. I smile too as I watch them interact, and realize they haven't noticed that I've come home yet. They must not have heard the door open over the sound of the tv.
I stay hidden behind the wall and just observe and admire Renee and Lily giggling while watching the show together. Renee is such a good mom to her, and I can't wait to marry her someday.
I hear Lily ask Renee, "When is mommy coming home?"
Renee then replies with, "I'm sure she will be home soon, sweetie."
I smile as I hear this. After about one and a half minutes of observing them, I hear my fiancee's phone ringing. She tells our daughter to continue playing and watching the show while she answers the phone call. I watch Renee pick up the phone.
"Hello?" I hear her say.
The next thing I know, I see the colour drain from my fiancee's face, and the look of devastation take over her face.
Then, as realization dawns on me... I watch as my vision fades away, and the world fades into nothingness.

The brain can only survive for seven minutes after death.
Once the heart stops, the brain begins to die along with the person.
Y/n was gone.
Died as she swerved into a lane without looking.
Hit by an oncoming car, and skidded off the road.
But as her soul was being lifted out of her body, her brain still functioned for seven more minutes.
Seven minutes.
Within those seven minutes, Y/n's brain finished the drive home, and watched the last interaction between her fiancee and her daughter before they heard the news.
Seven minutes.
Her body, brain, and consciousness may have been on Earth, but her soul was being lifted to heaven.
Seven minutes.
After those seven minutes, Renee felt numb. She felt like she couldn't breathe. As she hangs up the phone, all she can think of is 'I can't wait to see you again, my love.' She sheds a tear, 'I'll take care of your daughter... our daughter. I love you.'
