Ok so everyone gets overwhelmed and stressed right. So how is it different for people with ADHD. How a person without ADHD might be overwhelmed is having a lot of work to do and stuff like that. The difference is it happens a lot easier to people with ADHD.
For us it could just be having too many different feelings on our body, having a lot of people around us ,or even just having someone touch you.
Scenery issues play a part in it too. A lot off people with ADHD including myself have scenery issues we have a hard time with clothes and textures of food. Now this doesn't mean everyone with ADHD deals with this some people with ADHD don't have scenery issues. Which is great.
But back to scenery over lode or as I call it ADHD burn out. Now this can happen for a lot of reasons like being around a lot of people or loud noises , having a hard day at school or work, or after being outside for to long. Now during this state of burn out it's hard to make yourself do anything which is why after every event or something that I feel could make me burn out I set aside a day after for me to decompress. Now if I can't do that I will take stuff with me to help me feel less burnt out after. My loops are an amazing tool that have helped me a lot they are little ear buds that block some of the noises around you but still let you have conventions. I got my'n off of Amazon. Another tool that helps is my key chain. On it I have my loops my small fidget button and my little book that I talked about last chapter.
Now here are some tips for if your cot in that state of burn out. One of the hardest things for me to do during this us eat food. Which is why I my partner asking me probably around 2-3 times a day if I've eaten. That helps a lot if you don't have someone to remind you to eat then I suggested setting a reminder or two on you phone. Also having safe easy meals you can quickly make is great .
While you feel burnt out you probably won't what to get out of bed or get up from your seat. This is normal but while resting is important so is moving your body. Personally I find while I want to lay in bed all day getting up and going for a walk helps a lot more than I realized. So even if it's something small like getting up and going for a short walk or walking around your house or on a treadmill try and move your body.
Safe clothes. Ok that sounds wired but think about it do you have that one shirt or pair of pants that you always want to wear. Those are your safe clothes.for me it's a long sleeve sweater and a pair of sweats. If you don't have that set of clothes you wear when you're anxious or overwhelmed that's fine. But I would strongly suggest setting a pair of comfortable clothes aside for when you're burnt out. It's something that has helped me a lot and a lot of the people I've talked to.
Head phones. So personally I wear my head phones like 24\7 they help me with a lot of things. Now not only dues wearing them help but what I listen to as well. I have a playlist for when I'm overwhelmed and it has helped me a lot. It has chill happy songs that won't make me sad but will just be chill and calm. And it helps when your just laying in bed or doing something frustrating. And while your burnt out.
This one was still kinda short sorry it's late and I'm tired. But love you be kind spread love ❤️ . And I hope this helps. Also let me know if you have questions or anything ❤️
goodnight lovely people.
