Author POV
As the office day winds down.. most employees have already left, leaving the building quiet.. The peon, making his final rounds.. checks that everything is in order before locking up. He walks through the corridors.. turning off lights as he goes, and eventually reaches the area where the storeroom is located.
Noticing the storeroom door slightly ajar.. the peon assumes Kabir sir must have forgotten to lock it.. Without bothering to check inside, he closes the door.. locks it securely, eager to finish his work and head home.. Given that most of the office's data is digital now.. he doesn't consider the possibility that someone might still be using the room.
"Finally done for the day," he mutters, feeling a sense of relief as he finishes his duties.. He turns off the last light in the hallway and heads home.
Meanwhile, Ronit is still at his desk.. growing more anxious with each passing minute.. The weight of the project Abhimaan assigned him feels heavier.. As he rubs his temples.. Ayesha joins him, noticing his anxiety and exhaustion, walks over and sits beside him.
"You look like you've had a long day.. What's going on?" she asks.. her tone gentle yet concerned.
Ronit told her everything about the project given by abhimaan.. "Mishti was supposed to help me with the files.. but she hasn't come back yet."
Ayesha raises an eyebrow.. sensing his unease. "Sounds like you’ve been at it non-stop.. You should take a break.. Let's go to the cafeteria and grab a coffee.. You look like you could use one."
Ronit hesitates, "yeah.. but let's wait for Mishti then will go together.. She must be coming back by now."
Ayesha offers him a reassuring smile. "Ok then do one thing message her.. She'll see it and join us when she’s done.. It’ll give you a chance to unwind for a bit."
Ronit considers her suggestion and pulls out his phone. "Alright.. I’ll text her." He types out a quick message.. but just as he’s about to send it, he hears a buzz from the desk.. Looking down, he realizes the source of the sound is Mishti's phone. "Wait, she left her phone here."
Ayesha frowns slightly but quickly comes up with another idea. "Okay, how about this? Leave a note on your desk.. Mishti will see it when she comes back and know where to find us."
Ronit thinks it over and then nods.. agreeing with her plan. "Yeah, that could work." He grabs a sticky note.. quickly scribbles a message on it.. and sticks it on his desk, making sure it’s noticeable. "Alright, let’s go."
At the same time.. Abhimaan finishes his work for the day and is joined by Hriday.. who has been waiting for him.
"Ready to go?" Hriday asks.. noticing the tension in Abhimaan's expression.
"In a second," Abhimaan replies.. his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Ronit and Mishti's supposed date.. Unable to shake the feeling of jealousy.. he decides to check on Ronit before leaving. "Let's go"
They make their way to the fourth floor.. finding it eerily quiet and deserted.
"What are you looking for?" Hriday asks.. puzzled by Abhimaan's sudden change in demeanor.
"Just making sure everyone's left," Abhimaan says.. scanning the empty office. He doesn't see Ronit anywhere.. which only fuels his frustration and worry.. "Where the hell is he?" he mutters.. growing more agitated as he paces around.
