please forgive me
-SerenaDrewzer had been noticing it for days now: the distant look in Fibbert's eyes, the forced smiles, the way he seemed to retreat further into himself. Drewzer’s concern grew until it was unbearable. Finally, they decided to confront Fibbert, hoping to offer some support and understanding.
It was late in the evening when Drewzer quietly knocked on Fibbert’s door. There was no answer, but they could hear faint shuffling inside. Steeling themselves, they pushed the door open and stepped in.
The sight that greeted them was worse than anything they had imagined. Fibbert was sitting on the edge of the bed, a blade clutched in his trembling hand. Blood trickled down his arms and legs, staining the sheets below.
"Fibbert!" Drewzer's voice broke with panic as they rushed forward. Without thinking, they grabbed the blade from Fibbert’s hand, tossing it far out of reach. Fibbert looked up, tears streaming down his face, eyes wide with shock and despair.
"I have to... I deserve this..." he whispered, but Drewzer wasn't listening. They were already scrambling to find something to stop the bleeding. Grabbing a first aid kit from the dresser, they hurried back to Fibbert, their hands shaking as they tended to the wounds.
"Why, Fibbert? Why would you do this to yourself?" Drewzer’s voice was barely above a whisper, laden with hurt and confusion.
Fibbert's tears flowed freely now, his body racked with sobs. "I can't... I can't take it anymore, Drewzer. Everything's falling apart, and it's all my fault. I need to be punished... I have to pay for my mistakes."
Drewzer's heart broke at the words. They wrapped their arms around Fibbert, pulling him into a tight embrace. "No, Fibbert. No. You don't deserve this. You don't deserve to hurt. We'll get through this together, I promise."
Fibbert buried his face in Drewzer's shoulder, his cries growing louder. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."
"Shh, it's okay. We'll find a way. You're not alone in this." Drewzer held him close, feeling the desperation and pain in his trembling form.
As they sat there, holding each other in the dim light of the room, Drewzer knew they would do everything in their power to help Fibbert heal—not just the wounds on his skin, but the deeper scars that lay beneath. Together, they would face the darkness, and together, they would find their way back to the light.
Drewzer continued to hold Fibbert, whispering soothing words, hoping to bring some comfort to the shattered person in their arms. Minutes stretched into what felt like hours as Fibbert's sobs gradually subsided, leaving a heavy silence in the room.
When Fibbert finally spoke again, his voice was barely audible. "I don't know how to stop feeling this way, Drewzer. It's like... there's this constant weight on my chest, and the only thing that makes it go away, even for a little while, is... is this."
Drewzer tightened their embrace. "Fibbert, hurting yourself isn’t the answer. I know it feels like there's no way out, but there is. You don’t have to carry this burden alone. I'm here with you, every step of the way."
Fibbert sniffled, pulling back slightly to look into Drewzer’s eyes. "But what if I can't get better? What if I always feel this way?"
"We’ll find help, together," Drewzer replied firmly. "We’ll talk to someone who knows how to deal with this. A therapist, a doctor—whatever it takes. We'll figure it out, but you have to promise me you'll let me help you."
For a moment, Fibbert seemed to consider Drewzer’s words, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. Then, with a shaky breath, he nodded. "Okay. I... I promise."
Drewzer felt a surge of relief but knew this was just the beginning. "Thank you. That’s all I ask. Now, let's get you cleaned up properly."
They helped Fibbert to the bathroom, carefully washing and dressing the rest of the wounds. The silence between them was comfortable now, filled with a sense of tentative hope. Once Fibbert was bandaged, Drewzer led him back to the bed, sitting beside him.
"Do you want to talk about what’s been bothering you?" Drewzer asked gently.
Fibbert hesitated, but then the words started to pour out. He talked about the pressures he’d been feeling, the mistakes he believed he’d made, and the overwhelming sense of failure that had driven him to this point. Drewzer listened intently, offering reassurances and validating Fibbert’s feelings without judgment.
As the night wore on, Fibbert’s voice grew hoarse, and he leaned against Drewzer, exhausted. Drewzer stroked his hair soothingly. "You’re so brave for sharing all of this with me. We’ll take it one day at a time, and I’ll be right here with you."
"Thank you, Drewzer," Fibbert murmured, his eyelids heavy. "I don’t know what I’d do without you."
"You’ll never have to find out," Drewzer replied, pressing a gentle kiss to Fibbert’s forehead. "I love you, Fibbert.."
With those words, Fibbert finally allowed himself to relax completely, drifting into a fitful but much-needed sleep. Drewzer stayed awake a while longer, holding Fibbert close and silently vowing to do everything in their power to help him heal.
The road ahead would be long and difficult, but for the first time in what felt like forever, there was a glimmer of hope. Drewzer and Fibbert would face it together, hand in hand, ready to overcome whatever challenges lay ahead.
