It was almost time for the Royal Ball, I was in my room looking at the dress that Caleb had left on the bed with the matching shoes at the foot of the bed. I stayed there for a while, thinking that I had never been to a Royal Ball. Why would Caleb have to go to a Royal Ball? Does he have a royal friend? Nothing was making sense to me. I sighed and sat down next to the dress without taking my eyes off it.
While I was looking at the dress, someone knocked on the door, asking permission to enter. It was the butler. I told him to come in. When he saw me looking so thoughtful, he put on a worried expression and turned to me.
" Are you okay, Miss? " I asked.
" Yes, I'm just thinking about what tonight will be like. I'm worried about Caleb. " I told him.
"Caleb is a strong boy, he knows very well what he is doing. I've known him since he was a kid, and he's grown into an admirable, level-headed boy. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much. He's probably going through a rough patch, but he'll get over it. " She told me to reassure me.
"I don't know, there's something that doesn't add up. " I said thoughtfully.
"Don't worry, today just focus on dancing. " She told me with a smile.
When I finished getting ready, I waited for Caleb downstairs in the living room. A book he had on the table caught my attention. It was titled "Myths and Truths of the Supernatural." I took it in my hands and began to read the summary while I waited. It was about supernatural beings, from how they are created to how to kill them. Meanwhile, Caleb had already come down and coughed so I would notice and I put the book back where it was.
"You're on fire! Although that red tie and that black suit is a little dark for my taste. " I told him laughing a little, and realizing that he was wearing a crown. " And that crown? Are you bragging about being rich again?"
"Wrong! I'm a millionaire! Now more so having inherited my father's money. " He said laughing " But that's not the reason for the crown."
" What is it? For another show like the one I saw? " I asked him jokingly.
" Something like that...! Look how late it is! "He said while putting on a surprised face looking at his watch " Let's go, we're running out of time. " he said while helping me get up.
When we got to the park we entered a building that looked like a castle, but smaller, when we entered everything was decorated in very elegant red. Caleb smiled at me and made a gesture for me to shake his hand, it seemed that it was our turn to have the first dance. All the guests present were staring at us and whispering things to each other. When the dance was over, a man approached and whispered something in Caleb's ear, then Caleb made a gesture that he would come back soon and followed the man.
Meanwhile I had picked up what seemed to be a glass of wine, but when I tasted it it tasted horrible like iron or metal and I spit it out immediately which stained my dress, I tried to hide it, but I didn't know how so I went to the bathroom.
I was in the bathroom removing the wine stain from my dress with water, but there was no way to get it to go away, meanwhile a girl came into the bathroom and noticed me. She started putting on lipstick while I continued trying to remove the stain.
"That can't be fixed anymore. "The girl said, glancing at the dress. " Blood stains can't be removed with soap and water. I recommend hydrogen peroxide and the washing machine, as someone who has been through this more than once can tell you.
"Blood? Oh no... This is wine. "I said, a little nervous about the situation. I grabbed a glass that was in bad condition and stained the dress.
"Wine? Ah... I know what's going on here. Are you King Caleb's fiancée? " The girl asked, smiling.
