He knew exactly what he had done, accepting Morgan's invite to hang out. Morgan was once again frustrated with her parents for not increasing her already stupidly high weekly allowance and wanted to use Tess to convince them she had actually run away this time. Though, it was clear to Tess that they didn't really believe her anyway.
This time, Morgan had taken Tess to an arcade where they strolled through the machines, trying to find one that struck their interest. Flustered, Morgan managed to pry her eyes away, determined to keep up her "tough" exterior.
"What's wrong?" Morgan's attention snapped back at Tess as she heard his voice, seeing his big, curious eyes staring back up at her.
"Do you need some money for that machine? I can lend you some, if you want?"
Crap. She thought. He noticed. Like an instinct, Morgan huffed and marched over to the claw machine, purse in hand.
"I've got plenty of money! Dummy." And after a few tries, she had finally aquired her beloved stuffed animal, humiliation free.
Tess knew exactly what he had done, and so he smiled.
