ᴀɴɢᴇʟ ᴏꜰ ꜱᴘʀɪɴɢ - 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙧
The two months left of the term have dragged on for Angel. With each passing day, the weight of unresolved tensions and broken friendships bears down on her more heavily. Kate and Angel haven't been talking. Angel has tried, reaching out time and time again, but Kate has consistently left her standing with her words caught in her throat. And after weeks of futile attempts, Angel stopped trying, and now she feels completely alone. Because of course, Draco and Angel haven't made up yet, and she will not be the one to apologize.
And so, the whole thing leaves her solitary at the Slytherin table every morning, midday, and night.
People have noticed. Angel and Kate's friendship wasn't one that called much attention, but their inseparability was known. But were they? Inseparable? Turns out not. But Angel can't hate Kate for it. She won't. She's her best friend.
But Angel doesn't even see Kate in their dormitory anymore. Kate goes up past midnight, long after Angel has fallen asleep, and by the time Angel wakes up, Kate is already gone. She still worries about Kate's well-being, wondering if she's sleeping properly. She isn't; On a few occasions, Angel has stayed awake just to see Kate fall asleep, ensuring she is at least getting some rest.
The Weasley twins have stopped with their jokes. They tried to mess with Angel for a few days, but after seeing her sudden change in reaction, they realized it wasn't the right time, not then, not now. Harry has noticed her change in mood too, of course, and he wonders what happened between the two girls. But Angel hasn't told him, not once, despite the many times they've talked recently.
Now, Angel sits alone on the steps in front of the maze that will be the site of the third task. The atmosphere around her is electric with excitement. Cheers erupt as the champions show up, and the girls from Beauxbatons perform a graceful, mesmerizing dance as Hogwarts students play metal wind instruments, their melodies weaving through the air and adding to the festive atmosphere.
Angel looks around, taking in the crowd. She spots Draco cheering for Krum alongside his friends. He actually seems to be doing well, a stark contrast to her own solitary state.
Then she sees Kate, standing beside Amelia Roberts and Oliver Thompson. When their eyes meet, Angel offers a soft smile, but Kate looks away, her attention diverted by something Oliver says excitedly while pointing at Cedric Diggory.
Feeling a pang of loneliness, Angel turns her gaze back to the maze. The task is about to start, and the anticipation in the air is palpable. The champions line up, and with the sound of the whistle, they charge into the maze. The crowd roars, and Angel's heart races, though she feels a world apart from the excitement.
Minutes stretch into what feels like hours as the maze hides the champions from view. The crowd's energy fluctuates, excitement turning to anxious murmurs as time passes without any sign of the competitors.
Angel's thoughts drift to Kate, to their shared moments and laughter, now seemingly distant memories. She wonders if they'll ever be able to repair their friendship.
She hopes they will.
As Dumbledore explains how the third and last task of the tournament will work and who will be the first to enter the maze, Harry finds Angel among the crowd of students. Their eyes meet and she gives her a comforting smile, mouthing "you okay?" She nods carefully, sending back a grateful smile.
Cheering and applause suddenly interrupt their shared smile as everyone stands up, blocking the blonde from the boy's gaze. Dumbledore has finished talking and he makes the four champions gather around him, telling them something no one else can hear, as everyone watches amused.
