a month had passed since Annika got the role, and today was the day where she was supposed to take her flight to Vancouver. Annika was awoken by the loud banging on the door. "Jesus Christ, come in." Maria barged into her room and basically dragged Annika out of her bed."Do you know what time it is?" She shouted at Annika. Maria started to look around the room, searching for something. "Where the hell is your suitcase Anni? Did you forget that you're leaving today?Come on, Get your fucking ass up and start packing, you have three hours!"
"Okay Mom, i got it." Annika said, clearly sarcastically.
"Anni I'm serious, this is serious!" She said while pulling the suitcase out of under my bed and putting everything in need in there. "Oh and please take a shower, you stink"
"Wow thank you Maria for this amazing compliment, now that you told me to shower, i definitely won't." Annika replied.
"I mean, if you wanna make a bad first impression and stink like absolute shit on your first day there, then that's on you." Maria said, and she lowkey had a point.
Annika stood up and went into the bathroom to take a shower. After she was done, she head down to the kitchen and made herself some coffee. When she finished her coffee she brushed her teeth and went back to her room to see her Maria trying to close the suitcase.
"It's way too full, take something out." Annika told her. "No, it's not that much, your suitcase is too small!"
After arguing for about 20 minutes about the suitcase being too small or not, they realised it was time for them to leave. Annikas parents drove her to the airport, where Maria and Annikas parents said their goodbyes to her. "Be Careful, and Good Luck Babe!" Maria said while hugging me.
She handed her boarding pass to the attendant and stepped onto the plane, ready for a long flight where she could zone out and mentally prepare for what lay ahead. But as she approached her seat, her heart sank. Walker was already there, casually flipping through a book in the seat right next to hers.
"Great," Annika muttered under her breath as she squeezed past him to the window seat. She felt the tension between them immediately, a crackling energy that neither of them acknowledged as she buckled her seatbelt.
Walker glanced over, eyebrows raised in feigned surprise. "Oh, hey, Annika. Didn't expect to see you here."
Annika forced a tight smile. "Yeah, small world," she replied curtly, settling into her seat and turning to look out the window.
An awkward silence stretched between them as the plane took off. Annika focused on the clouds outside, trying to ignore Walker's presence. But after a while, the silence became unbearable.
"So," Walker said, breaking the tension, "how've you been?"
Annika sighed, wishing he'd left it at that. "Busy. You?"
"Same," he said with a shrug. "Excited about the role?"
"Sure," Annika replied, her voice clipped. "It's a ...big deal."
Walker nodded, and Annika could feel him watching her. "I didn't know you were into acting," he said, his tone carefully neutral.
"I wasn't," Annika shot back. "Maria convinced me to try it. Guess I got lucky."
Walker's expression shifted, a hint of annoyance flashing in his eyes. "You're not here because of luck, Annika. You're talented."
"Thanks, but I don't need a pep talk," Annika said, unable to keep the edge out of her voice. She turned back to the window, hoping he'd take the hint.
But Walker leaned closer, his voice low. "Look, I know things are weird between us, but we've got to make this work. We're going to be spending a lot of time together."
Annika faced him, her patience thinning. "I'm aware. I just didn't expect to be thrown back into the deep end with you, Walker. It's not exactly ideal."
Walker leaned back, his expression hardening. "Yeah, well, I didn't exactly plan on it either, but here we are. We can either make it work or make it worse."
Annika crossed her arms, feeling defensive. "I'm here to do a job, just like you. Let's keep it professional."
"Fine by me," Walker said, turning back to his book, his tone cool.
The rest of the flight passed in strained silence, both of them stubbornly avoiding any further conversation. Annika fumed internally, her mind racing with a mix of frustration and determination. She hadn't expected this confrontation, but it had solidified her resolve to focus on her role and prove herself, no matter what challenges came her way-including Walker.
As the plane began its descent, Annika took a deep breath and reminded herself why she was doing this. She could handle Walker, the tension, and anything else that came her way. This was her chance to break out of her comfort zone and show the world what she was capable of. Whatever happened, she was determined to come out stronger on the other side.
