It made no sense to her on why Khavo had passed the note onto her. Why couldn't he call the number himself? Nina thought.
It was day five of being down in Memphis, almost a week and Khavo gave Nina the note on day three. She tried calling the number atleast several times, only for the phone to send her to the operator.
Since the time Khavo gave Nina the note, he's mentioned it to her everytime he saw her. Nina lied straight to his face everytime, keeping the same response which was she never received a note. After hearing what Khavo was and currently is going through, Nina had no wishes to make his mental health worse off.
Him finding out that the number is going straight to voicemail, could lead to him spiraling. She would hate to be the cause of it.
Regardless of that lie, Khavo kept questioning her. In his mind he thought that somehow something had gone down in the transition of the note being passed to her because the officer that gave her note, had good dealings with him.
For the note to not have been given to her, couldn't have been right.
But again, Nina doesn't know any of this. All she knows is that she was given a note with a task on it.
Snapping back into reality, Nina snatched her phone off the nightstand next to her and turned the lamp on. She held the note in her hand and read over the number that was on the paper.
"2...2...5......6–" She full typed the number in and then pressed the green button. She held the phone out with it being on speaker and listened to the rings.
1...2...3...4..5 she counted in her head the number of times the phone rang. "6—" The ring stopped, Nina thought it was about to go to voicemail until he answered.
"Waddup?"
