Chapter 07

3rd POV
The Swan's were back from the hospital and while Bella was at prom, Cora and Charlie decided that it was date night. So Leah volunteered to babysit Clara.

Leah set up the living room and made a pillow fort so they could eat snacks and watch movies from their childhood. The Land Before Time, All Dogs go to Heaven, Milo and Otis, etc.

Clara sat off the side, playing with a spider and watching her "My She-Wolf?" Clara calls out "Hm?" Leah looks over at her "What are you doing?" Clara asks "Making a cuddle nest" Leah shrugs confusing the creature within Clara at her champion's actions "The Shadow wishes to know what a 'cuddle nest' is" Clara said, startling Leah "Who's 'The Shadow'?" Clara went mute, making Leah realize that this 'Shadow' was the creature possessing Clara.

"Tell you what, I'll answer any question you ask, if the Shadow answer mine" Leah bargained making Clara tilt her head "That's dangerous.... Bargaining with the Shadow. But the Shadow accepts your deal" Leah's face lights up and she sits crisscrossed in front of Clara.

"To answer your previous question, a cuddle nest is just a safe and comfortable place where you can cuddle and relax with a loved one" Leah explained making Clara/The Shadow nod "Makes sense.... What is your question?" Leah thinks for a moment "How.... Did you become possessed by the Shadow?"

The Shadow goes quiet before answering "Bella killed Clara" Leah's face morphs into one of horror "Then I resurrected her to become my host" Leah contemplates this before The Shadow speaks again.

"You are aware that you are not Clara's soulmate.... Correct?" Leah looks at her "I'm aware.... I feel like Clara is more of a little sister or daughter than a lover" The Shadow nods and Leah asks her second question "Who are you, really?"

The Shadow remains quiet before explaining "My name was forgotten long ago.... I was a runaway from a different tribe. Yours refused to welcome me in as one of their own, and I died alone in the forest, consumed by the darkness until I became nothing more than a shadow" causing Leah's heart to ache with sympathy and pity.

"Why do you want to know about me?" The Shadow asked "Because you're a part of Clara now, which also makes you my imprint.... And my friend" Leah said earning a surprised look from the Shadow, which turned into hope.

"Why did you runaway from your tribe?" Leah asked "Because I was different.... I was a freak in their eyes.... A monster that was a threat to the people of my tribe and I needed to be killed" the Shadow explained with a sad and bitter expression.

Leah went quiet as she realized that the gift of premonition caused the Shadow to be ostracized and abandoned by the world... Yet, instead of trying to destroy the world, the Shadow is trying to save the world.

"Luna..." Leah stated, snapping the Shadow out of her daze "What?" "From now on, I will call you Luna" Leah stated, before reaching out and taking the Shadow— Luna's hand and holding it.

Luna looked at the hand holding hers, and start to cry before tackling Leah into a hug. Luna sobbed into Leah's chest as Leah held her close.

And that was the day, Luna released control over Clara.
