Sirens echoed through the blurred vision, red flashed across his peripheral and warmth oozed out on his hand staining the wheels and his wrinkled shirt. Zee swallowed down the blood that threatened to escape. His body ached and muscles cramped around its structure, pain coursed through his veins yet the fatigue kicked in sooner than he had expected. Suddenly he picked up commotion outside the smoke surrounding him, and voices crept into the range of hearing. He tried to call for help but the black smoke resulted in him coughing up the blood that resigned in his gut. As the voices melted into the background slowly his eyes started to sway and he kissed consciousness goodbye as sleep overtook him. The last thing he heard was the annoying beeping of the ambulance. He would have to thank his savior later.

My eyes were shut, too heavy to open. All I could feel was the itching warmth of the blinding brightness that seeped through the closed lids and the gentle cold of the gloved hands that stroked my forehead as if pulling me back to sleep again. I tried opening my eyes once more and suddenly felt a jabbing pain down my spine into my ankles. The hands investigating my head now had seemed to move down to that soaring pain, and even though they tried to be utmost gentle with my body parts it still hurt. An involuntary grunt escaped my mouth and I heard a sudden gasp from above me.

"Nurse." A low-pitched yet serene male voice called out to someone.

The next second I felt a sting on my arms and sleep consumed me once more. Not being able to fight it, I decided to rest as the doctor took care of me. Just then a pair of ungloved hands gently removed the hair that lay on my forehead and touched my face. The doctor whispered,

"Sleep."

And I slept.

"Urgh"

The sunlight from the window hit my eyes directly. As I slowly adjusted my sight to the white and sky-striped room I caught a glance of a nurse fixing my side table with the saline bag. She stared in my direction, and upon seeing me awake she rushed to the call button on the other side of the bed for the doctor.

"Yes, yes he's woken up" she spoke with rushed words.

As I ignored their blatant conversation I scanned the barren room, a private ward with just a bed, a couch, and an extra stool to sit on. The far end of the room had a door, which I presumed was the bathroom. To the left of the room was the entry door. And just as I was looking in that direction someone opened the rectangle frame and strode inside, carrying a board in his hands.

The doctor caught my eyes and stared at me with a warm slime playing on his lips. As his eyes poured into mine, my heart spiked up a rate and skipped a beat.

"How are you feeling?" the doctor walked up beside the bedside. The nurse was long gone and forgotten.

I gawked in awe of his beauty. Soft hairs curled around his forehead, an oval face with cat-like eyes that remained hidden under the astonishingly suiting glasses and a prominent nose adorned his features. His skin glowed flawlessly under the bad lighting and the sky-blue coat he was wearing only accentuated his looks. I gulped secretly as I rushed to respond to the almost-forgotten question.

"What happened to me?" I inquired.

"You should tell me that mister..."

"Zee," I answered out of habit, even though I was sure he already knew my name and was just checking for concussions.

"Yes, Zee, someone called from the middle of the streets last night and we found you in a miserable condition."

"Oh."

Now I remember. My brakes failed on the road and I crashed into another car that was passing by.

"Oops, my brakes failed and I crashed...is the other person alright?" I questioned.

" 'Oops?' you have a broken limb and spine, thankfully not such a severe injury on your head and countless cuts and scratches all over your body, and all you say is Oops?" The doctor scolded me.

"Sorry.." I whispered.

I don't know why I said sorry, but something told me I did not want this doctor mad at me. Even though I felt the pain in my spine and legs, even the creeping headache that was building up from the back of my head, the most pain I felt was when the doctor started talking. It was like my heart was being broken into a million pieces when this angel-like doctor scolded me. I didn't want him to be mad.

"And yeah, the other victim is doing much better than you," he said with a stop.

And with that, he started checking my vitals from the monitors beside me, and that's when I remembered about the payment!

"Uh..about the payment"

"The hospital helped out a bit yesterday for emergency surgery but we couldn't contact anyone to inform them about the incident."

"Yea..well my family isn't from around here so there's no way, I'll pay the bill" I cleared the confusion.

The doctor nodded.

As I watched him check the readings I couldn't help but be awestruck. This was the same doctor that had done my surgery yesterday, I recognized the voice, the same hand that had lulled me to sleep. I couldn't hold back and abruptly asked,

"What's your name doctor?"

He turned his face towards me with a sudden movement and stared at me for a good two seconds before answering.

"NuNew Chawarin."

"Pretty..." I whispered out accidentally. Petrified of my act, hoping Nunew didn't hear it I quickly averted my gaze...but it was too late.

"What," he asked, confused.

"N..nothing" I stuttered.

But to my surprise, Nunew didn't seem to overreact and as if he hadn't clearly heard my voice he proceeded to leave the room. My heart sank..a part of me hoped he had heard it. But just as he was about to leave through the door, he turned towards me with scarlet cheeks and a bright smile and muttered.

"Talk about yourself. "

"Now rest. And call the nurse if you need anything." he rushed out the doors clutching his clipboard to his chest.

A smile crept up my face, threatening not to falter.

Well, how come my doctor was this cute? An actual angel in disguise. Wait..my doctor?

I still stared through the doors nunew had hurried off to... and thought,

Yes. My doctor.
