Forrd and his partner had been discussing planning for the portal for a couple days now. They'd now begun drawing up blueprints and Stanford even considered bringing an old college friend he knew to help, they could use the help (and Fiddleford was wasting his talent with whatever he was doing in his garage).
By now, he was exhausted but he couldn't sleep at all. He strolled around the cabin before he eventually made his way onto the small clearing on the roof. He came here occasionially when he was tired or needed to clear his head. Stanford greatly enjoyed the calm breeze at this time.
During the day, it was always too hot, almost arid, but at night it was perfect in every way.Ford sat down there for a while, dangling his legs over the edge of the ledge. Out of nowhere, he heard Bill's familiar voice, coming from behind him.
"Hiya Sixer" Bill exclaimed as he stepped closer to him before sitting down alongside him.
His legs dangled off the roof, much like Stanford's. "Whatcha doing up here?" Hee asked."I just came up here to relax and clear my head, all this planning and blueprint making is tiring." Ford responded as he looked up at the dark sky, the stars were incredibly bright in Gravity Falls, especially near the woods away from the lights in town. Bill took note of this and did the same.
It was a dark, cloudless night. You could see almost every star. The two sat there for a couple moments, staring at the sky and feeling the gentle night breeze blow past them. Suddenly, a shooting star flew across the sky.
"Look Sixer, a shooting star." He exclaimed with a slight chuckle, as if it was an inside joke Ford didnt understand. "Make a wish." Bill encouraged as turned to ford.Ford sighed, he looked down, slightly disappointed. "I didnt have time."
Bill paused, thinking over Fords words before he hesitantly spoke. "So there is something you'd wish for?" He asked. Ford nodded, "Yes."
"What do you wish?" Bill tilted his head as he pried further.Ford looked back up at the sky before he finally spoke. "I was wishing that- we were two other people. Two people who could, well. work together a little easier.
Could even see each other more perhaps." He muttered. The two could only see eachother in the mindscape, Bill could enter his mind while he was awake, but that left their communication limited."Perhaps it could be that way." Bill simply said. "Wh-what do you mean?" Ford stammered, surely there was no way for them to work closer together, Bill couldn't aquire a physical form.
"Well, I don't have a physical form, and jeez those are hard to get, but, you have one. And you're not exactly using it when you're asleep. I could finish off any research or plans as you sleep." Bill explains with a wide smile, it was clear he loved the idea."Wow! Uh, I'm gonna have to think on that." He smiled nervously, unsure of how to feel about Bill's idea. It wouldn't be perfect of course, however it would technically allow for them to work together.
But letting Bill take control of his body while he was asleep? The idea was terrifying. If anyone else had asked it would've been an instant no, they could use his body for anything, it could be deadly, but this was Bill.. He trusted Bill, he wanted to work with Bill, he considered him a close friend and partner.Bill understood and nodded. "Let's just relax for now." He muttered as he looked up at the stars once more. There were a couple more shooting stars. Ford stared at them, enamored. They were incredibly interesting to him, he knew what they actually were obviously, burning meteoroids travelling at incredible speeds in their atmosphere, but at this distance, they looked so simple, beautiful almost.
Ford was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt an arm wrap around his waist. Ford didn't pull away, if anything he leaned into it slightly, finding comfort in Bill's embrace. "It is beautiful, isnt it?" Bill muttered. Stanford was still getting used to the concept of bill being able to read his thoughts, "It really is." He agreed.
Bill tilted his head before resting it on Ford's shoulder. Ford's heart raced, he wasn't used to being so close to another person. It seemed as if Bill had entered his life to shatter any previous seeming boundaries, whether it be in terms of what was scientifically possible, or in terms of Stanford's own comfort with being embraced by another.
He'd hated it before, it felt weird and uncomfortable. When he hugged people, it usually felt uncomfortable and he'd just be waiting for it to end. But with Bill? It was something else entirely. Instead of waiting for it to end, he wanted more? Every touch made his skin shiver, whether it was holding his waist or his chin, it gave him the same sensation.
Stanford paused, should he reciprocate the embrace? It seemed like what he was meant to do but he was unsure. What if Bill didn't want that, what if it scared him away, what if he was misreading their interactions. Slowly, he stretched his right arm out to wrap around Bill's waist.
As soon as he completed the action, he let out a short sigh of relief. Bill didn't jerk away, or display a face of confusion or disgust. He stayed in the same spot as before, although with a small smile on his face now. The two men sat on the roof for a while longer, embraced in eachother's arms in silence, a comfortable silence.
