Y/N

Sitting in the café with the others, I tried my best to focus on the conversation, though my mind kept wandering back to last night. Every time I glanced at Edogawa—Ranpo—I felt a wave of embarrassment. How could I have been so reckless?

The memory of my confession, or at least what I could remember of it, made my face flush every time I thought about it.

Just as the conversation started to drift into more casual territory, Atsushi turned to Edogawa.

"So, Ranpo, why are you here?" he asked, breaking the casual vibe with a sense of curiosity.

Edogawa's face lit up with a smile. "Finally, someone asked!" He leaned forward, enjoying the moment as all eyes turned to him.

"We've got another case."

I raised an eyebrow, trying to push aside the lingering awkwardness. "What kind of case?" I asked, genuinely curious despite my internal turmoil.

"Someone found a body over at D Street." Edogawa said, his tone more serious now.

Kunikida chimed in, his brow furrowed with concern. "What do we know so far?"

Edogawa shrugged casually, leaning back in his seat. "A woman, was found at the bay." he pointed out the obvious.

"And.....no evidence was found at the scene." we were shocked by his news.

Then he turned his gaze towards me, his eyes locking with mine. I felt my heart skip a beat, remembering all too well the closeness we shared last night. He tilted his head slightly, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

"And guess who the Inspector specifically requested from the agency?"

My eyes widened as the realization hit me.

"No way." I muttered, pointing at myself as I tried to hide my disbelief.

Edogawa just smiled, confirming my suspicion. "Yep. They want you on this one, Y/N."

I quickly shook my head, the awkwardness making it hard to think straight. "No. I'm not gonna take this one." I said, looking away to avoid his gaze.

Atsushi, ever the concerned and supportive friend, leaned in. "Why, Y/N? You're a detective too, right?"

I hesitated, trying to find the right words. "I know...." I finally said after a moment.

"But if I'm with a certain 'someone,' I might.....not be able to focus."

The truth was, just being around Edogawa made it hard to concentrate, especially after last night. My head was still dizzy from the alcohol, and my emotions were all over the place.

"But you know that I was drunk yesterday, right? I don't know if I can think straight after all that." I added, trailing off as I tried to explain.
