Nairari Burns
Jakari was helping Isaiah with his homework in the kitchen as I sat in the living room watching some Love and hip-hop Atlanta , the was some movement detected on the CCTV camera outside making the alarm beep, I paused my show and went up to the monitor in the lounge and it was a taxi pulling into the driveway.
"Babe did you invite anyone?" I asked Jakari making him come over to the lounge
"No I didn't, let's go check who it is" Jakari shrugged as he walked off and I continued watching the monitor and I saw a woman come out of the taxi as the taxi driver took out her luggage, I followed Jakari to the front door.
The doorbell rang and Jakari opened the door.
"Hello, does Nairari Live here?" The woman asked
"Yes, how may I help you" Jakari asked but her voice sounded so familiar
"I'm her mother Rose Burns" the woman answered and I ran upstairs crying.
"NAIRARI" Jakari called after me as I locked myself in the bathroom next to Isaiah's room and I cried my eyes out, I dialled Miriam's number and it went straight to voicemail, I then called Nique and she picked up.
"Nairari,is everything ok?" Nique answered
"She's here after so long" I cried
"Come on babes, don't cry,who's here" Nique asked
"It's Mom,she's here at the house" I cried
"I'm coming over right away, after all these years ,she wants to push herself into your lives again?? No way,I'm not gonna let that shit happen,I'm coming" Nique spoke in frustration and she cut the call
"Baby open the door" Jakari spoke from the other side of the door as he tried opening it.
"No, I don't want to see her " I cried
"Baby please open the door,so we can figure this out together" Jakari huffed
"She hurt me , and she wants to come back into our lives, I'm not opening this door until she gets out of my houseeee" I cried even more
"Nairari,if you don't open this door imma kick it down and I don't want to do that ,so please open the door baby" Jakari sighed and I stood up and unlocked the door and Jakari came inside and closed it behind him, engulfing me in a hug.
"Baby, I know you don't want to see her but hear her out at least to know why she has decided to come back after all this year's, I'll be right there with you" Jakari reassured me as he looked down at me.
"Alright, I will hear her out" I sniffled and Jakari pecked my lips twice and we walked out the bathroom and went downstairs to be living room.
"Mama look, Gramma got me some toys and new clothes" Isaiah cheesed as he showed me what my mom got for him
"That's so nice baby,did you say thank you" I smiled
"Yes I did" Isaiah cheesed
"Baby please go upstairs to your room alright,us grown ups want to talk ok" I told Isaiah softly
"Ok mama" Isaiah smiled and he left the living room going upstairs
"He looks just like your dad" mom sighed as she wiped her hands on her pants.
"He does , he does" I smiled
"Well you are probably wondering why I have come back after so many years, I'm sorry I abandoned you guys, you, Nique, Miriam and your father,I left because I was showing signs of Alzheimer's disease and I left to go get treated in Chicago, so I've been in the psych ward for over 10 years , I got out two years ago right after I heard the news that your father had died, I didn't want to feel like a burden on you guys, especially on hospital bills and taking care of me,so I decided to take matters in my own hands, I didn't abandon you guys on purpose,I was just trying to get help" Mom explained as tears fell down her cheeks, we didn't know mom was hurting,we just thought she hated us but it was the sickness that got to her. I stood up and knelt before her and hugged her allowing her to cry and I was also crying
"I'm sorry mom that you had to go through all that,I'm sorry that I blamed you all these years, I'm sorry" I cried even harder
"It's okay baby, you had every right,I'm sorry I abandoned you guys,I'm really sorry, please forgive me Nairari" mom cried as she held me tighter, I wiped the tears from my eyes and from mom's eyes.
The front door opened and Nique and Miriam entered the house alongside Kehlani. Miriam saw mom and came to hug her.
"Oh mom" Miriam sniffled as she hugged her
"My dear Miriam,I'm sorry" mom apologized
"It's not your fault that you were sick ma" Miriam sighed
"Wait, you knew?" I asked Miriam in disbelief
"Dad also knew, you were just too young to understand,so we did this to protect you and Nique, you wouldn't understand at the time" Miriam explained
"You knew all this year's and you didn't have the decency to tell me or Nique??? You're so selfish Miriam, you , Dad , y'all were selfish" I started to cry
"Nairari please forgive me, I didn't want to disrupt your studies , I did this to protect you" Miriam cried as she tried to hug me but I pushed her making her fall
"Nairari" Nique gasped as she ran towards Miriam and so did kehlani helping her up.
"I'm sorry ,I'm sorry I pushed you,I'm sorry" I cried and Jakari came to comfort me , I felt something run down my leg and I looked down to see blood.
"Nairari your bleeding baby" Mom gasped as she stood up and walked towards me
"The baby, my babyyyy" I cried and I felt dizzy and everything went black.
