— REAL LIFE, TEXT MESSAGELEIGHTON PRINCE
"Holy shit Avery, is that enough perfume?" I coughed, all while waving the air around me.
"Hell no. Tonight, I'm getting laid. And this perfume is gonna get me that." Avery spoke, matter-of-factly, all while holding up her expensive, sleek bottle of Baccarat Rouge 540.
"By who? Nika Mühl?" I smirked at her, touching up the makeup underneath my eyes.
"Shut up, definitely not. Unless she wanted to- cause then, I'd totally be down." Avery said, pulling her blonde hair into a high ponytail, pulling out curled pieces in the front.
"I think she would."
"Nah, don't lie."
I just shrug my shoulders at her in return, and walk over to my closet. The time was currently 8:42, meaning Paige Bueckers would be picking me up in exactly 18 minutes, and I still had no outfit even considered.
"God, Avery please help. I don't know what to wear. I mean, I want her to like it, and be glad that she invited me, but I don't know what that means in an outfit."
"Who, Paige?"
"Mhm."
"Then black." The blonde mumbled.
"I'm gonna need a little more variety than that, quit texting Nika and get your ass over here."
"I wasn't even texting her- but okay." She grumbles at me in return, sluggishly making her way over to me. And Avery being Avery, points at an outfit for me, without even thinking or knowing anything about the two items. And after I tried them on, I was in disbelief at the magic she could do.
"Dude, how do you that, every time."
"My only talent baby, my only talent." She shrugs.
Avery picked out a basic black bodysuit, that was soft and stretchy, and went with my tanned skin. With the bodysuit, she simultaneously picked out a perfect pair of black jeans to go with them, with fringe at the bottom. Gold jewelry was then stacked on my neck, then followed my hoops and bracelets.
My signature scent, vanilla, was then sprayed all over me. You'd think that after all the memories the smell gave me of a certain someone, I would want nothing to do with it. But the smell of vanilla gave me quite a lot of comfort, considering she always loved it.
"Okay, okay, Nika's here, so I gotta go. You look a-mazing." Avery said, making her "a" sound an "uh" sound. "Be careful, please, and don't stress!! Text me when she picks you up, have fun." She shoots me a wink before grabbing her bag and slipping out the door.
And then, just like that, I was left with my own thoughts. In high school psychology, I learned that the human brain is best at finding things to distract yourself from anxiety. And that is exactly my situation. Avery was my distraction, and now I am left alone.
Taking pictures in the mirror only does so much to hype yourself up, and after 10 minutes of shitting my pants- I finally get a text from the blonde guard.
