Balraj POV
Sitting in the CM's mansion in Lucknow, I and Dhanraj were waiting for our CM. He is a simple and trustworthy man. Albeit he flaunts Dharma through his speech and attire, but he strictly believes in treating everyone equally.
"Balraj! Son! How are you? I missed your roar so much."
We stood up instantly listening to his voice, as he walked into the hall. He is my father's age, and treats me exactly like a son. He follows celibate lifestyle, so he didn't marry throughout his life. That is also a strong reason why he sees his children in everyone. He is free from such attachments.
"I missed being here too, sir."
I answered, as he engulfed me in a fatherly secure hug.
"Sit, my sons."
He instructed us, and we took our seats again.
"Trust me, I thought I lost you. I could not even focus on the work properly."
He muttered to us, signalling his servants to fetch snacks for us. I smiled at his gestures. He has always been like this.
"I'm glad that your wife brought you back - healthy and strong."
He asserted, and my chest swelled up with pride recalling my wife's efforts to bring me back to this condition.
"I'm lucky to be her husband."
I mumbled subconsciously, her sweet memories running in my mind like a video tape.
"Now I'm understanding why marriage is given so much importance in Dharma."
CM sir spoke up, the tea and snacks arrived by then.
"Are you planning to get married, sir?"
Dhanu asked him in a funny tone, and I gave him an offensive side eye look. He lowered his gaze instantly, trying to hide his chuckles, and CM sir broke into boisterous laughs.
"Hahahaha! No... I have sons and daughters now. I am happy with what I have earned till now."
He replied in a similar tone as Dhanu. Sometimes he doesn't even feel like a man of authority. He blends with us so easily. It feels like we all are a family. He is like this with almost everyone.
"Balraj, your wife is studying law. I want her to prove herself in this field so that other women seek inspiration from her. People look at us as ideals, so we should set healthy examples, unlike what the party is being doing until now."
He elucidated to us, and Dhanu nodded at his words. I wanted to know more about the ideologies of the party that troubles him.
"What do you mean, sir?" I asked sternly.
"Your father and the leaders of his time have always been patriarchal, and the worst part about them was that they gave vague explanations of dharma to justify their deeds. It's time for the change. People need to understand and follow the actual teachings."
Sir told us without any hesitation, and I sucked on my lower lip, understanding the basics of politics that must be practiced in a country like India.
"The teachings contradict as religion changes. India is the only country that harbours maximum number of religions, and all are free to openly follow their ideologies. We cannot impose dharma on everyone."
I spoke fearlessly to know how I can handle all this if ever the time comes.
"That's exactly what dharma is! It shouldn't be forced. No religion has ever taught inhumanity to the humans. It's the humans who do it, and blame their religions for their own contentment. This notion must change."
