In the other room, Daniel had not heard any of the conversation. Josh went and sat with him as he played games on his phone.

In a teasing manner, he asked, "Did you find any girl at least now? The worst thing is you're Daniel Morone, and still, girls resent you."

In a playful tone, Daniel retorted, "Hey, big bro, you don't have the guts to tell your fiancée your real name, and you've made us all travel using a fake identity. You taunt me seriously?"

Josh mocked, "At least I have a girl. What about you? You don't even have a girl to lie to?"

Daniel threw back a question, "If you're so proud to have a girl to boast about, you should be in her arms at this hour. Is your conservative Indian girlfriend not letting you touch her?"

"Fine. No personal questions."

In a more serious tone, Daniel quizzed, "Seriously, man, I was just teasing you, but now I'm asking you genuinely out of concern, what's the point of having a girlfriend if you have to live like a celibate?"

Josh got up and walked forward, standing there with his back facing Daniel.

Daniel was trying to understand his brother walked near him, and asked sincerely, "Si, she's pretty, but is she worth all the effort? Is she worth the wait? Why are you putting up with all her ridiculous conditions to wait?" His facial expression conveyed a sense of curiosity and concern for Josh.

"She didn't ask me to. In fact, she is......It's my idea Daniel."

"Oh, come on!!!! I have a fair idea of your sex life. And You and your ex. I have myself caught you guys in the deed so many times. So now don't pretend as if you are replacing your sexual energy with Indian spiritual energy."

"Stop it.... Daniel..."

"Are you trying to tell me you don't have needs? If so, you are lying."

"Sexual need is not the only need a man has, Daniel. The need for companionship is bigger. At least to me."

Josh turned around and smiled as he said, "She is worth every wait, Daniel. But you know what, the most beautiful thing about her cannot be seen. It can't be seen in her pretty face or perfect measurements of her body. I'm in love with her beautiful thoughts, her clean character, and the serenity in her soul. I can engage in intelligent and meaningful conversations with her. She's everything I wanted in a girl. I love the whole of her, including the values that make her who she is. And I'm proud to embrace that too. It's simple; won't we Italians expect the person getting married into our family to eat pasta?"

Daniel, looking intrigued, replied, "So you're comparing pasta and sex? You can get pasta in any restaurant, so you're saying..."

Josh interrupted him, shaking his head, "This is why I call you an idiot, Daniel. Dad goes on month-long trips around the world. So, can he also have that kind of pasta everywhere? And should Mom order some American pasta?"

Daniel remained silent and looked at Josh keenly. "Daniel, sex is the easiest thing you can find in this internet era. It's not just about showing your naked body to someone; it's about opening your soul, thoughts, fears, desires, and dreams with your partner. And this is what we have. If I ask her to have sex with me, she'll do it for me, but what will I be doing for her then?

I cannot explain to you what she means to me. Maybe a year back, I had the same thought process. In fact, the day before I met her, I had a one-night stand. But the moment I met her, I didn't want to have that feeling with anyone else. I know sex is important, but if I'm forgoing that, imagine how important she must be. She gives me peace. She gives me that safe feeling which I have never felt with any other women who flaunt their sexy body in skimpy clothes. She has touched me in ways in which no other woman has touched me. You might not understand this today, but down the line in the future, when you meet someone special, you'll remember this conversation. Sex is not the only thing you will expect from her."

Daniel was taken aback by Josh's sincerity and was genuinely surprised. He remarked, "Who are you? Where is my macho brother? You really love her.  The way dad loves mom. "

Josh smiled sheepishly and nodded.

Daniel still looked surprised and said, "She should be really special. I've never seen you talk to me like this." He realized the depth of Josh's feelings for Shivi, that's when he noticed Shivi standing near the door, listening. He went near her and rubbed the back of his head with his palms, attempting to offer an awkward apology.

Daniel stammered, "Shivya... I mean, Anni, I am..."

Josh interrupted him, saying, "Leave it, Daniel."

Shivi crossed her hands against her chest and chimed in, "It's okay, let him."

Daniel said, "I'm sorry that I mocked Josh about his private matters that involve you."

With a calm demeanor, Shivi responded, "From what I heard, it looked less like a mock and more like actual concern, trying to ask if what he was doing was right for his future. So, I don't have any hard feelings. In fact, I'm happy to see that he has a brother whom he can talk to. I wish I had a sibling like you to whom I can open my heart."

Daniel looked at Josh in amazement, wondering how she was taking this so casually when he had been literally questioning her worth and why Josh was sacrificing his pleasures for her. His eyes were wide open, and he appeared shocked by her response.

Daniel acknowledged, "Any American girl would have blasted her fiancé if they had been discussing their sex life with his brother. And, as you said, I was genuinely concerned for him and didn't mean anything against you."

Shivi replied calmly, "I know."

Daniel continued, "You're not like other girls. You're really different. Now I get what Josh was talking about. No wonder he's crazy about you." Shivi smiled warmly, acknowledging the uniqueness of their relationship and the depth of understanding she shared with Josh.

One more wicket was down. Josh's lips curled up in a warm smile as he knew she had won him over with her genuineness, as usual. He walked over to her, taking her into his arms and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Shivi remarked, "I know all those sibling rivalry stuff you put in front of others is just drama, and you guys deeply care for each other. Guys say it to each other sometimes; your nose will not become shorter by that."

Daniel also smiled, realizing what she said was right, and added, "Come on, it's so much fun. You must be doing the same with your siblings."

However, Shivi's laughter faded quickly, replaced by grief that welled up in her eyes. Josh sighed, realizing that Daniel had touched a sensitive nerve. Shivi excused herself and walked to the other dome.

Concerned, Daniel furrowed his brows and asked, "Did I say something wrong?"

Josh replied, "Idiot. I called you guys because she was missing her family, and you stomped on the same live wire coming here. My mistake, I didn't explain in detail. Her family treats her like an outsider. Her brother and sister are not even in contact with her. Her parents are really cold and try to fix her marriage with weird jerks. I really don't understand why a family would treat their daughter this way."

Daniel pondered, "Is it because they are Indians?"

Josh explained, "No I don't think so!!!! You were very young when the Kumar's were there; they used to treat Mithra like a princess. Even one of my college mates was telling me this was weird, as they never treated the daughter of their house this way. There is something wrong with that family."

Daniel suggested, "Or maybe she is too good for them. Sorry, I didn't know. She was hurt; I could see that in her eyes. You should check on her."

Josh nodded and headed to the other dome when Kate informed him that Shivi had left for their dome.
