A pleasant breeze. Light taps of dewdrops. Petals brushing against her fur and face ever so lightly. A cool sunlight that wasn't too bright or humid. A flowery aroma not hindered by pollen. These were the sensations Kayla awoke to. She slowly opened her eyes to a blue sky with few clouds. There were sunflowers all around her, and they were tall enough to reach her head in height, even as she sat up. She stood tall and slowly spun around. Nothing but these flowers, the sky, and glistening dewdrops as far as the eye could see. A few paces ahead was her only company.
"It's a dream, isn't it? I'm in the Dream World," she guessed.
"So you're quick on the uptake," the human replied, keeping her back to Kayla.
Things seemed calm enough that Kayla could get a better look at her. She wasn't quite as built as she initially thought, but she definitely looked athletic. Athletic and shapely, the 'ideal body' as far as she felt. The woman was tall, and wore a rich fit refined to the last dollar. A clean blue skirted jacket, a shirt underneath, and long pants that blended with thigh high socks. Despite that, she also wore trainers, the kind one would do hardcore parkour in. Her hair was jagged and cool, with a neck-length ponytail.
"Planning on staring the whole time, huh?" the woman replied. That made Kayla snicker beneath her breath, so she came closer.
"Dunno about you, but I was brought up to look at who I'm talking to," she replied.
"Listen to me, asshole. If you—"
"Can't hear you if you're not facing me," Kayla said boastfully.
"Don't! Just listen to me, damn it. If we lock eyes, it throws everything into jeopardy. So don't," the woman stated. She sounded anxious enough that she might be telling the truth, but it still bothered Kayla a bit. The woman wouldn't even let her see her face, rotating as Kayla tried to walk around her. "You've got Buneary ears. Use them."
"Hmpf," Kayla gave in, turning her back. "So what's the deal, anyway? Finally decided to show up?"
The woman didn't reply.
"You came to me in the Dream World. Figured you could say hi anytime, but something's holding you back," Kayla continued.
"So you're this smart, yet you're dragging your feet elsewhere... gods, you can be so freaking annoying," the woman sighed. "You knew I was watching you the whole time? Surprised you're not trying to kick me into next week."
"I'm a Buneary, not a Primeape. If you want to fight, gimme a reason to."
"What's to stop me from skinning you alive?"
"I'd actually like to see you try."
There was another pause, broken by a growl from the woman. "For goodness sake Kayla, get it together. I can't believe you're this cocky."
"Look, either stop being cryptic, or get the heck out of my head," Kayla spun to face her. "You show up, you tell me to kill Jirachi, now you're trying to insult me. Not my idea of a good dream, y'know."
