"Just survive. Life is about surviving the best way you know how."
Unknown
Finnick and Bree stood next to each other at the end of the Avenue of the Tributes.
Gripping onto each other's hands as they watched Katniss steadily walk towards them. Bow in hand.
They could see the rebels falling in behind her. Following as she led down to where President Snow stood, chained. Katniss drew level with the victors; she came to a halt.
Bree was interrupted from her reverie by President Coin stepping up to the microphone.
"Welcome to the new Panem." Coin called into the Miscprhone. "Today, on the Avenue of the tributes, all of Panem, a free Panem, will watch more than a mere spectacle. We are gathered to witness a historic moment of justice. Today, the greatest friend to the revolution will fire the shot to end all wars. May her arrow signify the end of tyranny and the beginning of a new era. Mockingjay, may your aim be as true as your heart is pure."
Bree watched as Katniss drew back on her bow.
Bree's heart stuttered at the motion, a motion that she had been forced to relive over and over and over again in her worst nightmares, where she had been forced to watch as Katniss drew back her arrow, firing it into Finnicks heart.
But Bree forced herself to watch, forced herself to watch as Katniss drew the arrow back. Forced herself to watch as Katniss let go of the arrow, and it sored over Snow's head and into Coin's heart.
Bree didn't know whether to laugh or to cry as Coin toppled forward, falling off the plinth as she landed below.
All she could do was watch as the mob roared forward. Screaming and chanting as they ran for Snow.
Bree felt as Finnick pulled at her hand. Desperately pulling her away from the mob.
Faintly, she realised she could hear him calling her name, and she finally tore her eyes away from Snow's laughing frame as he got engulfed in an angry mob.
"My love," Finnick called. When he realised he had finally gotten her attention, he tugged at her gently, "Are you okay?"
"Yes," Bree smiled. I am." But then she paused for a moment, feeling people push past her as they fought to get to snow. "But do you think we could get away from this crowd?"
"Of course, my moon." Finnick laughed. Gently pulling Bree by her hand as he navigated away from the mob.
When the two of them were a safe distance from the mob, they came to a stop, watching the swarm of people.
"Do you think it will finally be over?" Bree questioned quatly.
"I don't know," Finnick answered. "I thought it would be over when Snow was captured. But then Coin proved herself to be just as bad. But I hope now that she is gone, someone truly good can step up and take her place. Then it might be over."
"I hope you are right," Bree murmured.
Finnick wrapped his arm around Bree. Holding her tight into his body.
"Do you think we could go home to four now that this is over?" Bree questioned softly. "Get a house by the sea. So we can finally live our own lives for ourselves."
"That sounds perfect," Finnick murmured. Pressing a kiss to the top of Bree's head. "But anything sounds perfect as long as I am with you."
Smiling up at him, Bree pulled him into a kiss.
Maybe they would be okay.
