Mary struggled to suppress her laughter as Sebastian and Ominis continued their playful banter. Every word they said seemed to make it harder for her to keep a straight face.
"You two are going to get me detention for laughing!" she exclaimed as the three of them entered the Divination classroom.
Sebastian smirked, his grin cheeky and full of mischief. "Oh, you love it," he replied confidently, as if making her laugh was his personal mission.
Ominis nodded in agreement, his tone teasing yet warm. "Yes, yes, you can't deny that you find us entertaining."
As they entered the classroom, the trio quickly found their seats, still caught up in their lighthearted exchange. Mary glanced around, noticing that most of the students were already seated and preparing for the lesson. But that didn't stop her from continuing the banter, even as she tried to compose herself.
"I can't deny that," she admitted with a giggle. "You two are the very embodiment of gracious dignity," she added, the sarcasm in her voice softened by her amusement.
Sebastian chuckled, clearly enjoying the back-and-forth. "Exactly," he said with mock seriousness. "We are the epitome of gracious dignity. We exude elegance and grace in everything we do."
Ominis, not one to be left out, hummed in agreement, his lips curling into a sly smile. "Yes, just by existing in a room, we elevate its level of refinement," he added with a playful air.
Mary let out a loud laugh at their over-the-top comments, quickly covering her mouth with both hands in an attempt to stifle the sound.
"You two! Shut it!" she murmured, her voice a mix of desperation and laughter.
Sebastian and Ominis exchanged triumphant grins, clearly pleased with themselves for making her laugh so hard. Sebastian leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "But we've gotta keep you entertained!" he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
Ominis nodded, his expression equally mischievous. "Yes, we can't have you falling asleep in class now, can we?"
Mary tried to glare at them, but the smile on her face betrayed her. "Before I fall asleep, you're going to get me in trouble with the professor!" she murmured, attempting to sound annoyed but failing miserably.
Just as she finished speaking, the classroom door opened, and in walked the Divination professor, Natsai's mother. The room fell silent as she made her way to the front of the class, her presence commanding immediate attention. The air of lightheartedness that had filled the room moments before was quickly replaced with the quiet anticipation of a lesson about to begin.
As the professor reached the front of the classroom, she gave the students a warm smile, her tone gentle and inviting. "Good morning, everyone," she began, her voice filled with an underlying kindness. "We will continue our exploration of the mysteries of the future. Divination is not merely a skill but an art—one that requires both intuition and understanding."
The professor took a few steps forward from her desk with both hands clasped together. "Today, I'd like to do something a bit nostalgic, something that I believe you'll all enjoy. For this class, you may choose to sit with whoever you wish to work with. We'll be reading tea leaves—one of the more traditional, yet deeply insightful forms of Divination."
At the mention of tea leaf reading, Mary's heart skipped a beat. She suddenly remembered the promise she had made to Natsai and Poppy to spend this class with them. They were already seated together at a table on a lower level of the classroom, looking up at her with expectant eyes.
