August 23rd 2014

I sit in the back of my English class, there's an empty desk pushed next to mine, no one's sat there in the 2 weeks school has started, I'm sitting in the one closer to the window. I sit in silence as my classmates near by walk in and talk to each other, staring out the window looking at the student parking lot. It's still a bit wet outside from the early morning rain.

The teacher is standing in the front, rambling on about a student or something. I'm not really paying attention.

I hear someone take the desk next to me. I look over and see a brown haired boy in a random band t-shirt putting his bag on the floor. I quickly look away before he sees me staring.

"Hi, I'm Louis." the new kid, or Louis, says to me.

"Hi, I'm Dahlia" I smile looking at his eyes. They are blue. Like the ocean but prettier.

"Dahlia? I like it" He smiles.

His smile is so adorable.

"Thank you" I blush.

He's so gorgeous.

I turn my head back to the front of the class.

The teacher talks about a worksheet we will have to do and if we want we can work with the person next to us. Once the worksheet makes its way from the front to the back to Louis and I, I give one to him and look down at mine.

"Do you have a pencil I could borrow?" Louis whispers.

"Yea of course," I reach in my bag on the floor pulling out a red mechanical pencil for him

"Thanks, love," he says taking it "I love the color red".

I smile "You're welcome"

I look back at my worksheet with a poem on it.

"What are we supposed to be doing?" A voice whispers again.

"You read the poem, highlight parts and summarise the meaning"

"Alright" he nods looking back at his paper.

We work in silence for a few moments till I get the courage to break it.

"So you're not from America, I'm guessing based on the accent, right?" I say as we work.

"No, I'm from a small town in north England called Doncaster" he says with a hint of a smile.

"Well this town is pretty small too, can't be much of a difference"

"Foods a bit different"

"More sea food?"

He nods, "A lot of lobster"

"That's Maine for you" I joke

He gives a light laugh smiling, "Great, I love lobster."

"Then you're in the right place" I laugh "so any other things you like? Hobbies or anything?"

"I love football or soccer as you may call it" he replies smiling.

"We have a soccer team here or football"

"Really?" he says excitedly.

"Yeah, tryouts are next week. You made it just in time"

"That'll be great" he smiles excitedly.

We continue to talk as we work on our worksheet until the bell rings, signaling for the next period.

As we get our bags and hand the worksheets to the teacher, we walk out the classroom.

"What do you have?" I ask walking near him.

"US History" he says reading his schedule off a paper he's holding.

"Oh I have science right now" I say sadly, not wanting to leave him yet.

"I guess I'll see you around" he smiles

"Yeah. See ya" I smile heading to my class wondering when I'll see Louis again
