Chapter 1

"And the last name, Anthony." He suddenly hears Sensei Barnes say. Anthony smiles widely looking at his dad while everyone claps. "How do you like them apples, huh." Daniel says to Johnny as Anthony stands up on the deck.

As the clapping dies down Mike Barnes says. "Congratulations top 12, meet me back here tomorrow for round two. To the rest of you, you're out, better luck next time." After that they all scatter around the back yard.

Anthony stands by himself looking happier than ever. Daniel walks up to him. "Look at you, hard work paying off." He says to him.

Anthony looks at the ground smiling. "Yeah but no way I make it past this second round." "I won the All Valley with less. The underdog always has a shot." Daniel says nodding to his son.

Suddenly Anthony with his dad's encouragement really thinks he has a shot at going to the Sekai Taikai. He just smiles at his dad and walks towards the dojo.

Anthony sees Mitch aka penis breath sitting on the steps. "Dude I really think I have a shot at getting top 6." He says to Mitch. Mitch looks at him like he's crazy. "No way. We barely made it into the top 12. Top 6 will be Robby, Miguel, Sam, Tori, Hawk and Kenny for sure."

He flinches at the name. Him and Kenny are getting along now but he still can't forget about their past together. "Well I'm gonna try and stay positive, anything can happen right?" Anthony shrugs. "Whatever man." Mitch huffs out.

-Time skip-

They are all out in the back yard again. Top 12 lined up facing each other while the rest of the students that didn't make the cut sit on the sidelines to watch. "Top 12, get ready. Today's challenge is a battle royal. Rules are simple protect your flags, steal the others, loose your flags and you're out. The ones with the most flags at the end go to Barcelona. The rest of you will be judged on performance. You have 2 minutes. Ready!" Sensei Barnes says. Everyone gets into their fighting stances ready to fight. "And Fight!"

Anthony runs off the deck chasing Mitch. He quickly grabs a flag off of one of Mitches arms. Mitch looks down in surprise and frustration. Anthony doesn't notice due to concentration. Mitch tries to hit Anthony but he blocks it running the opposite direction looking to capture more flags.

"Coming for you LaRusso." Anthony hears someone say. He's not too worried about the person right now as he's in the middle of fighting Nate.

Nate tries tackling him but Anthony dodges quickly and grabs a flag from his arm and puts it in his gi. "Okay, man. Two to two." Nate says. "Ais!" Anthony tried going for kick but Nate grabs his leg.

"Gotcha. That's two to one." As Nate says that Anthony kicks him with his other leg knocking him down to the ground. Anthony then grabs another flag from the kids side. "One to one." Nate says again.

Nate then starts crawling around Anthony as he's still on the floor. "No, no, no,no!" Nate screams as Anthony grabbed his last remaining flag. Anthony smirks putting the flags he secured in his gi as he watches Nate storm to the side.

Anthony goes to turn away then comes face to face with Kenny. Himself only having one more flag left. "Underdogs always have a shot. Underdogs always have shot." Anthony whispers to himself what his dad said earlier to him as he's getting into his fighting position.

Kenny goes to sweep his leg but Anthony lifts it dodging it. He also blocks the attempts of Kenny trying to reach for his flags. "This is my shot." He says to himself as he reaches now for one of Kenny's flags. As he reaches Kenny sweeps his legs with his arm knocking him to the ground slightly.

"You thought you had a shot." Kenny says as he's standing over him. As he's caught off guard Anthony then steals a flag from Kenny's leg. "Shit!" Kenny curses. "Alright that was lucky." Anthony then tries going in to steal another flag but Kenny blocks all his attempts with ease. He then tries throwing a punch but Kenny ducks grabbing Anthony's last flag from his leg then punching him in the nose. Anthony falls to the ground.

"Time! That's it." Sensei Barnes yells out as the two minutes were up. "Yes!" Kenny yells out. Daniel looks over to see Anthony on the ground. "Anthony!" He says running over to him. Kenny's confused but when he looks over at Anthony on the ground he sees that he's bleeding from his nose. "Oh, sh-shit. I'm sorry LaRusso." Kenny says as he tries to go over to help Anthony.

Daniel makes his ways over to the pair. "Are you okay?" Anthony coughs a little. "If it isn't obvious, LaRusso, you're out. Nice hit, Kenny." Sensei Barnes says. Daniel looks over at Barnes. "Seriously? My son is bleeding here." "Well you better get used to it, Daniel, because the Sekai Taikai is gonna do a hell of a lot worse." Barnes raises his voice.

Daniel tries to help Anthony off the floor groaning in pain but he makes it back to his feet. "What's your deal, man? It's like you're slipping back into Bad Boy Barnes." Barnes scoffs. "Maybe that's a good thing. If I'd been my old self, maybe Silver wouldn't have burned my business to the ground." Daniel doesn't even say anything back he just walks Anthony into the dojo as Barnes turns back to the rest of the kids.

Anthony sits down on the chair as his dad tries to clean up his bloody nose. "Alright. Looks like the bleeding stopped. You're gonna live. You wanna go back out, see who won?" Daniel says trying to make a joke. Anthony just looks at him with a blank expression

Daniel then turns serious seeing his son's expression. "It's just a bloody nose. You shoulda seen the time I got spaghetti-"
Daniel gets cut off by Anthony. "Why weren't you real with me, Dad?"

He looks at his son confused. "What?" Anthony continues. "I mean, you made me believe that I actually had a chance, and now everyone thinks I'm a joke." He says getting more mad. "That's not true." Daniel tries to say but gets cut off again.

"No matter what I do, I can't win." Anthony says looking disappointed. Daniel put his hand on his shoulder. "Ant, win, lose, it doesn't matter. You just keep doing your best, and you'll have everyone's respect." Daniel says trying to make the teen feel better.

Anthony just shakes his head. "I just wanna go home." He says as he walks out the door. Daniel tries stopping him but Anthony is already out the door.
