Elijah had spent the night, cuddled up against Max, who held him so tight. Whilst Sam had left the pair to work on his project downstairs.
As he was researching the laptop, Jake walked downstairs to get himself some water and noticed his little brother. "Whatcha doin'?" He asked as he plopped down next to his brother and opened his water, taking a sip.
"Ah, catching up on some work for science." Sam replied, as he kept his eyes on the screen.
Jake hummed, "I have to talk to you about something."
The statement caused Sam to stop typing and turn to look at his brother. "Yeah?" He replied commonly, although his heart was racing. He was in fear of what his brother could possibly know.
"So, um, I think I like Max." Jake confessed, leaving Sam at a lost for words and all he could blurt out was, "You can't!"
The statement left Jake confused, "I'm sorry? Why can't I?"
"Well, um, because," Sam's voice trailed off.
Jake stayed quiet, not allowing Sam to drop the conversation. "Jake, I just, fuck, I'm dating Max and Eli." He finally confessed after an uncomfortable silence.
"Really?" Jake replied, although he already knew what Sam had spoken.
Sam nodded his head, unable to look his brother in the eyes so he lowered his head. "Are you happy?"
"Oh, um yeah?" Sam answered although his statement was more of him being confused.
Jake smiled softly, before pulling his younger brother into a hug, "Then I'm happy."
"Aren't you jealous or upset?" Sam asked and Jake laughed a bit.
"I was only joking when I said that, as if I could ever like my best friend! Plus, I'm definitely more into girls than guys." Jake confessed, pulling away from the hug, "And besides, I would never be upset at the expense of your happiness."
Sam felt a couple tears build up in his eyes as he grabbed his brother and pulled him back for another hug, before crying into his shoulder. "There will never be enough good that I could do in this world to make me feel like I deserve you as my brother. I'm so grateful for you and I never tell you how much you mean to me. Thank you for doing your best and being there and being present and accepting me no matter what. I have never felt so accepted and loved." Sam confessed, as he tried to contain his sobs.
"I know the outside world is scary, it's a place where you can be judged, hurt, treated unfairly and just feel like you're worthless so I spent my life making sure that even when the world gets tough, you'll always feel safe at home." Jake explained, "Because as long as there is still air in my lungs and a beat in my heart, you will always have someone who is proud of you."
The pair stayed like for a moment, recollecting themselves, before Sam pulled away and turned his attention back to the laptop. "Wait so does that mean Eli and Sam are dating as well?"
"Ah, yeah, they are." Sam replied, grabbing his laptop off the table and placing it in his lap.
Jake stayed quiet for a while, allowing the pair to just enjoy each other's presence.
"I feel bad for Max." Jake randomly announced.
The comment made Sam whip his head to look over at Jake. "Alright, I'll bite. Why do you feel bad for Max?"
"He's stuck with Elijah, who eats up all the cheese and sucks at video games and you, who's only sense of humor is unaliving yourself jokes and who likes Judge Judy." Jake explained.
Sam slowly removed the laptop from his lap, before standing up. "What are you doing?"
"You have five seconds to run, before I kill you." Sam replied, making Jake sprint up and start rushing down the hall.
"At least you aren't killing yourself." Jake retorted.
"I'm going to kill myself after I get you!"
