FIVE

"AHHHHH!"

Oscar Piastri turned a corner to be met with a cardboard cut out of Daniel Ricciardo's face, making him scream in surprise.

The cardboard cut out was quickly lowered, revealing a glare of a very familiar woman, immediately silencing his scream, his body already moving to get ready to run away from her, scared that she would attack him once again.

"Dude, you're giving me a headache at seven in the morning, I hope you slip in the fucking shower and die."

Eliana Friedman scoffed at the Australian, half tempted to slam the cardboard over his head but decided against it since she refused to harm Daniel's face, even if it wasn't his real one.

"O-oh, sorry. Wait- why aren't you screaming at me? Or trying to punch me?" Oscar questioned, his entire body full to the brim with confusion.

"None of your business, Dobby. Just know that I am planning to carve your heart out of your body with a wooden spoon." The Friedman woman practically spat at the young man before she quickly turned her body around to walk away from him, filled with disgust and despair.

He hadn't been the only person confused as to why she wasn't trying to kill Oscar, both Daniel and Pierre had wondered why she hadn't thrown up at the sound of his name.

The answer was that her mind was preoccupied, she couldn't use her energy to kill Oscar or try to, because her entire body and all her energy was just trying to get through today.

The anniversary of the worst day of her life.

Pierre didn't know, which she did feel bad for having not told him, but she liked just having people treat her like a normal person.

They treated her as if she Eliana Friedman, the girl who loved Daniel Ricciardo, horses, bunny rabbits and daisies.

Not Eliana Friedman, the girl who had lost her entire family and her horses in a barn fire, the girl who survived purely by miracle having been rescued by a travelling Australian cyclist who had seen the smoke and had travelled to investigate, finding a young girl amongst the dead trying to free her horses to give them a chance at survival.

She wouldn't have made it out otherwise, she would have stayed there, trying repeatedly to free them until she died.

Fun fact, the cyclist's name had been Daniel.

Maybe that was why she was so obsessed with Daniel Ricciardo, maybe when she had gotten in to the sport, her brain and her heart had attached themselves to the name that was her saving grace.

"Woah, hey!"

Daniel Ricciardo shouted loudly as the young woman happened to run straight in to him, her face clouded by memories which caused concern to ripple through his toned and muscled body.

At the sound of his voice, Eliana couldn't help but wrap her arms around him in a tight hug.

She could feel the memories resurfacing and if she didn't, then she knew that she would've broken down in front of him which would have been a lot more embarrassing than fainting, plus, it meant that she got to hug her favorite driver.

Daniel lightly patted at her back as he pondered on what had made her look so upset, his eyes falling upon the figure of her best friend who he was able to signal to join them, seeing the French man rushing over to see the pair.

"Hey, what's up?"

Pierre Gasly found himself questioning as he noticed how the eyes of his best friend seemed clouded and distant, his body pulling her in to his own hug that would offer some comfort and love to her.

"It's just a bad day... that's all." Eliana's voice wobbled as she spoke, forcing her to bite down on her bottom lip to stabilise it, harshly blinking away the tears that had attempted to form within her irises.

"You sure?" Daniel and Pierre asked in unison, since they both cared about the Friedman girl who had never reacted the way that she was in this very moment.

"I'm okay... but I should apologise to Piastri, I did accidentally scare the shit out of him with the cardboard cut out of Daniel."

Pierre and Daniel almost choked on air from the shock.

"Excuse me what?"

The pair shot their heads to face one another as the words registered in their brains, knowing that now there really was an issue because why on earth would she want to apologise to him or be anywhere near the rookie Mclaren driver.

She hated his guts.

The duo didn't even get their answer or a single response because as they turned their bodies back to face where she had been standing, she was no longer there.

God, they hoped that she wouldn't kill the poor boy.

Oscar Piastri was definitely not expecting to come face to face with Eliana Friedman, especially when he was just leaving his driver trailer.

"Round seventy, huh? What insults are you gonna call me now?"

The Australian Formula One driver released a deep sigh at the sight of her, his face falling and his body tensing, as if he was getting ready to be screamed at for the next seventeen hours.

He had gotten quite used to it, which hurt, but he knew that she would never like him no matter how hard he tried, so he gave up trying.

"I'm sorry."

His eyebrows furrowed tightly together in a look of confusion as her words hit his ears, an untrusting and unbelieving look upon his youthful face since he wondered if it was too good to be true.

After all, why would she apologise to him when she had insulted him merely thirty minutes ago?

"You're what?"

"I'm sorry."

"Did Pierre force you to apologise to me? Is that why you're here?"

Eliana gently shook her head from side to side, lightly bouncing on the balls of her feet, slightly picking at the skin around her fingernails.

"No, I need to apologise for scaring you... with the cutout. I was on my phone and wasn't looking where I was going... I'm sorry it scared you." The Friedman girl spoke with an uncomfortable look upon her face, seeing the boy in front of her nodding in understanding.

"Oh, well thank you." Oscar nodded his head up and down a couple of times as his brain struggled to understand what was happening.

"Can I... get you a coffee or something? To show that we're good?" Oscar smiled softly at the woman, his smile dropping as she rolled her eyes and released a scoff.

"I said that I'm sorry for scaring you, I never said that we were buddies. I still take great pleasure in reminding you that you stole Daniel's seat, fucking Dobby looking dick."

Eliana Friedman walked out of the Mclaren garage without another word, leaving the young Australian standing in his spot dumbfounded, hid mouth slightly agape.

"Well, that went well."
