Marcy let out a groan, hitting the snooze button on her alarm for the third time that morning. She rolled over onto her stomach, burying her face In her pillow, her hair a complete mess.
"I am too tired for today..." she mumbled, even though she had absolutely nothing going on, and most likely just didn't want to get out of bed. She spent the whole night working on her webcomic, only getting a few hours of sleep in the process. Explaining her lack of desire to get out of bed.
A few minutes later, her alarm went off again, and she finally sat up, turning the alarm off instead on hitting the snooze button yet again. She pulled herself out of bed, blinking her eyes open and getting adjusted to the new lighting.
She made her way over to her closet, opening it and picking out an oversized sweatshirt and some baggy pants, clearly, she hadn't put much effort into her outfit. She slipped the clothes on and began running her fingers through her hair, opting for hand brushing instead of properly brushing her hair. Eventually, she finished and grab her phone from her night stand, stuffing it in her pocket and beginning to make her way downstairs.
Her apartment was small, having two floor by the second floor only having her room, and the first floor only having a kitchen and a small tv room of to the side. There was a small bathroom in her room, but that was about it.
"Uhg, I need a cup of coffee..." she said to herself, her voice tired and groggy. But of course, she was too lazy to make a cup of coffee herself. So instead, she opted to pull out her phone and search for the nearest coffee shops. But, she noticed that the nearest one was one she had never heard of before, but it had lots of five star views, it also seemed to have started business pretty recently. She decided to try it out, mostly because it was the closest option and she didn't want to drive very far.
She grabbed her car keys from the hanger near her front door, not even caring to do much else about her appearance except grabbing her purse. The coffee shop wasn't too far away, only a two or three minutes drive, she could've walked there, but she was too tired to, especially not at this time of the morning.
She hopped in her car, turning it on and staring the directions to the coffee shop. The route was fairly simple, and she managed to make it there within only a few minutes.
Once she was there, she parked her car outside and jumped out, making sure to lock her car, a thing she frequently forgot to do.
"This place better be good... I need the energy..." she said with a sigh, putting her phone and wallet in her pocket as she made her way into the shop. Once she was inside, the smell of coffee and pastries immediately hit her. There were a few small tables scattered around, with some of them being occupied. There was also a glass case, showing off all the food and pastries that you could get. She decided to just get in line at the counter instead of sitting down at a table, she was only getting a coffee after all. It was a surprisingly long line, and she could see multiple people working behind the counter and making sure to keep up with the orders. Obviously there was someone running the counter, but, she couldn't see them from where she was.
She pulled out her phone, deciding to play a few of her favorite games as she waited for the line to shirk, but it didn't take long, due to the amount of people working. Once she was near the front of the line, she could see a big menu on the back wall, and she decided to look over it. She wanted to have her order ready when she got to the front of the line and not make anyone wait. After a few minutes, she knew what she wanted, and she continued to get close and closer to the front of the line, until there was only one person left in front of her. She turned off her phone and stuffed it back in her pocket, watching as the person in front of her stepped to the side to wait for their order.
When she moved forward, she was able to see who was running the counter. It was a Thai girl with her Afro tied up in a small pony tail, she had blue eyes, as well as warm skin. She had a name tag on her apron, and it said "Anne". Marcy thought this Anne was kinda cute, but she quickly pushed that thought away and focused on getting her coffee.
"Hi, could I just have a Carmel latte?" She asked, her voice a bit quiet due to her introverted nature.
"Of course! That's a good one, I've had it before, definitely one of my favorites." The barista said, her voice smooth and silky. "I'll just need a name for that." She added.
Marcy gave a small nod, she should've anticipated this, but she didn't. "Marcy." She said, her eyes locking with the baristas. The barista gave a small nod, calling out the order to some of the others working behind the counter. Marcy stepped over to the side to let other people order while she waited for her drink. While she did, her eyes wandered to the barista's name tag. Anne... it suit her.
