The next morning Anne woke up to the sound of her alarm. She let out a groan as she sat up, realizing she had to go to work today. Reluctantly, she pulled herself out of bed, taking a minute to brush her hair and fix up her appearance before putting on some plain clothes that could go under her apron. She then made her way downstairs, grabbing a donut and sticking it in her mouth. (The food she had had for breakfast four days in a row). She then grabbed her keys, leaving her house and hopping into her car.
Once Anne got in her car, she turned on the radio, deciding to listen to music and news on her way to work. She took a bite out of her donut before getting on the road.
On her way to work, Anne ate the rest of her donut and arrived at work shortly after. She parked in one of the designated spots for employees before walking into the restaurant. There were a few of her coworkers already there, but the cafe wasn't open to customers yet.
Anne got behind the counter and slipped her apron on. Now all she had to do was wait for the cafe to open and customers to line up. And only a few minutes after they were open, people already started filing into the cafe. Luckily, Anne was making drinks instead of running the counter. But, one order caught her eye, a Carmel latte. The same drink that that cute girl ordered yesterday. Wait, did she Anne just think she was cute!?! She literally only meet this girl yesterday.
She silently scolded herself, but her eyes widened as she realized the name for the order. It was Marcy. No, freakin', way. The same girl that came yesterday came again and got the same drink. This made Anne excited, maybe she'd become a regular customer!
She tried to push those hopeful thoughts down, and instead began working on Marcy's drink, making sure the make it perfectly and not accidentally mess anything up.
She soon finished making the drink and set it down on the counter, calling out Marcy's name. The first thing she noticed was the same raven haired girl from yesterday walking up to Anne to get the drink. Marcy seemed a bit shocked as well, like she didn't expect to see Anne again today. She quickly took the drink from her before walking off with a quite "thanks"
Anne took a deep breath, watching as Marcy left the cafe with her drink. And Anne's mind began racing. Why was Marcy surprised to see her? Did she not want to she her, did Anne make the drink wrong!?
Anne shook her head, trying not to overthink everything like that. Once she got her head back on straight, she got back to making orders, though she wasn't completely focused as she did so, which made some of her work sloppy, but she couldn't care less. Finally, after a few hours, she finished her shift. She wiped some of the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand before taking her apron off and hanging it up.
Anne then left the cafe with her phone in her hand, texting her mom and telling her that she was on her way home. Anne let out a small huff as she pulled herself into her car, turning it on and starting the engine.
Anne drove her car out of the parking lot and making her way home. The drive felt like hours, when in reality, it was only about fifteen minutes. She just couldn't stop overthinking that interaction with Marcy before. Maybe she should've said something? Was she too awkward?
But one thought stayed in the forefront of her mind, the fact that Marcy's drink fit her perfectly. She seemed nice and sweet, as well as calm and laid back but also intense at moments. Anne didn't know how see could tell all of that from a few second long interactions, but she could. One thing was for sure, Anne definitely wanted to see more of this Marcy girl.
Once Anne got home, she let out a sigh while sitting on the couch, turning on the tv and deciding to watch something to clear her mind. Although, I didn't do much in the end, because all Anne could think about was if Marcy was going to end up being a regular customer.
Authors note: hope yall liked this character, it's kinda lazy I know but I'm trying my best. I swear I'm running on a donut just like Anne, anyway. Word count: 777 words
