SEVEN [ MICHAENG ]

Chapter 14

After taking a long shower, Mina found it hard to do her routine alone but she didn't ask for Chaeyoung's help. She wore her nightgown and removed the plastic bag from her leg. She gasped as soon as she came out of the bathroom just to see Chayeoung lying on the floor. He was in a deep sleep, Mina couldn't deny that he had been doing a lot in the last few days. From taking care of her and the company that's going into a downfall after the scandal.

"Chaeyoung" She called while sitting on the bed's edge, He flinched and got up "Did Mina fall?" He asked. He sighed in relief when he saw her sitting on the bed with a towel wrapping her wet hair. He got up and cracked his back. He threw himself on the bed and groaned in pain "Good night" he mumbled and drifted to deep sleep. Mina frowned at him and turned off the lights.

Morning

Mina didn't know how she fell asleep. She was still holding a book, it was almost nine in the morning and she wondered why Chaeyoung didn't wake up to work yet.

"He will be late," She said under her breath while staring at his sleeping figure. She smiled when he pursed his kissable lips "Why do you look so cute?"

Chaeyoung groaned and stretched while Mina prayed that he didn't hear her "It's nine in the morning, aren't you late?"

"Good morning" He looked at her "I won't go to work today, it's my mother's death anniversary, I am going to her grave. Would you go with me?"

Mina yelped, she felt the pain in his voice and saw it In his eyes "Yeah, I miss going out"

Chaeyoung nodded and the two got up. The drive to the graveyard was silent. Chaeyoung pushed the wheelchair till they reached his mother's grave. He sat on the grave's edge, he pulled out a red flower from the inside pocket of his jacket. The weather was cold and Mina was freezing but Chaeyoung didn't seem to care about it. He caressed the grave dust with a smile "It's been a long time since I visited you. I am sorry. But I have a great news. I am married and I will be a father soon" He said before he broke into tears "You always wanted to see my grandchildren but I guess you are in a better place right now"

Mina did her best not to cry but failed. She is mad at him but these feelings seem to vanish with every passing day. She pushed the wheelchair closer to him and patted his back. Chayeoung sniffed "I am so tired Mom, so tired, I miss your hugs and laughs so much" He expressed and looked at the sky "But life will go on and I am strong because you raised me like that. I will take care of my family like a real man"

Mina pulled Chaeyoung closer, he cried in his wife's arms. He buried his face in the crook of Mina's neck while she caressed his wide back. Chayeoung's ringtone cut off their moment.

"Yes, father?" He said while wiping his tears. "WHAT?" He yelled while standing up. Mina looked at him confusingly.

"Chaeyoung! Can you tell me what's wrong?" Mina panicked while Chaeyoung was driving crazily between the cars without saying a word. The two reached the mansion and unusually, he didn't mind if Taecyeon helped Mina out.

She followed him to Duho's office. The latter was sitting on the leather couch holding a paper. Chaeyoung snatched it from his hand and read it.

"How is that possible?" He raged at his father "Why did she do that?"

"She ran away with Jaejong, my lawyer" Duho said "She knows the passcode of my safe. She took everything" He cried.

Mina witnessed the whole situation with a clueless expression.

"She sold her shares and all her properties?" Chaeyoung asked. His hands were shaking non stop while holding the letter.

"She took all the cash money I hid too" Duho cried "she betrayed me"

Chaeyoung comforted his devastated father. He stared at Mina with sorrowful eyes. He brought her to his life but didn't know that their fate is that painful and bad. He can't let her suffer with him.

"We need to sell the mansion father, I will pay all the debts we have and start over again" Chaeyoun stated "I will talk to Bangchan and Nayeon" he said while heading out of the office. Words couldn't come out of Mina's mouth, she watched him leave while Taecyeon helped her walk to her bedroom.

One week has passed...

Chaeyoung barely comes home. He spent his days going to banks, meetings and courts. As much as he tried to fix his reputation no one believed him. Everyone is seeing him as a young gambler and a cheater who deserves jail.

On the other hand, Duho stays in his room, he can't believe that his beloved wife betrayed him like this, from being one of the wealthiest men in Seoul he became an outcast and broke.

Mina was sitting on her bed. She blew air from her mouth irritably as it's midnight and Chaeyoung hadn't come home yet. She flinched when she saw him entering the bedroom with an unfolded neck tie and messy hair.

"Oh you are still awake?" He asked with a smile and Mina nodded as a yes "did you take your medicine? Are you feeling any pain?"

"No, I think my foot is healing. I want to remove the cast as soon as possible. I miss walking like a normal person" she laughed but Chaeyoung didn't mirror her laugh. He stared at her with his miserable eyes.

"Let's break up Mina" he stated coldly. Mina froze and yelped. She didn't expect his behaviour "that what you wanted right? let's get our divorce" he continued "I sold all our properties including this mansion and the company I owe nothing to anyone and I own nothing anymore" he smiled "I bought an apartment for you and a car for you to use" he said taking two keys from his pocket and placed them in Mina's hand "I opened a bank account for you too so you won't need anything in my absence"

"And you? Where are you going?" She panicked as the darkest thoughts ran into her mind.

A bittersweet smile left his mouth "I've rented an apartment for me and my father and I've already found a normal job at a company. I brought you to this life and now I am letting you go. I couldn't keep everything peaceful and steady. I have nothing now, but I will take care of you and my kids from a far"

Mina frowned upon hearing his words and decisions "how about Garam?"

"I couldn't find her, she took everything with her. That bitch" he cursed.

"It's not your fault, you didn't know that she is a two faced woman"

Chaeyoung nodded and smiled "can I ask you for one last favour?"

Mina nodded.

"Can I sleep between your arms for the last time?" He said with teary eyes the same as Mina who didn't hesitate to say yes.

He gently put his head on her chest as the two laid down on the bed. A tear escaped Mina's eye as she played with his hair for the last time...
