Chapter 14

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Logan asked, as he paused at the door of his apartment, and was just about to search for his key. They'd strolled down Broadway, hand in hand, people watching and reminiscing their joint New York City past - places they'd been and things they'd done. There seemed to be a never-ending supply of those.

"Can you just relax?" Rory scolded him, resting her palm on his shoulder, reminding him that this didn't have to go all the way. But all this time, Logan had been pretty sure Rory still hoped it would, her little hints and semi-casual touches had given him a fair share of confidence on the matter. "Besides, you're not exactly making me feel terribly good about myself having to be this pushy and invite myself over for a nightcap. I've never had to be this pusy with you before. I'm not sure I like it," Rory continued, pushing her nose ever so slightly up in the air as if she was about to pout.

The drinks had certainly helped her words to flow with even more ease than before. But instead of feeling weirded out by this, Logan mostly found it refreshing. Rory had always been so composed, it was finally good to know everything she had on her mind. At least her intentions were right there in the open. Logan was pretty sure one of the reasons why she was putting so much effort into this this time was that she felt guilty for the way she'd turned him down. He wanted her to know she didn't need to make up for it - they'd both made mistakes, but he couldn't deny that it felt nice being wanted by her.

"Oh, really? You've never been pushy before?" Logan snorted, skeptically. "And just for reference, this is me, saying that - you have too, and I've quite liked that about you," he added, actually beginning to enjoy being able to shamelessly flirt with her again. It was like they were no longer pretending to be thinking about dating or just casually dating to see what could be. Now they actually were.

While the fact whether they worked out or not was yet to be seen - as in any relationship - by now it was obvious to both of them that the course of events until then was pretty obvious. Sooner or later they'd grow more accustomed to being physical with each-other again, and from there it really was only a small step forward to some amazing orgasms. Logan could just sense how they were already becoming the predominant person in each-other's lives, the ones they wanted to run their plans by, and soon would find it pointless to live separately. All of it was going to happen, even if Logan tried to delay it by being sensible. Him, sensible - hah - Logan laughed at himself in his thoughts.

"Maybe just a little," Rory replied, squinting one of her eyes.

"Oh, I remember you being all about 'girls just wanna have fun, stringless fun'...," Logan teased, managing to unlock his apartment door while staying focused on Rory. The tension between them was so delicious, he really didn't want to break it just yet. His hesitance had by now transformed into trying to make this a very long tease. Sure, it would end at some point, but he had every intention of making it a challenging wait.

"Hey, I wasn't wrong. I did want to have fun. And I did. You were always fun...," Rory said, approvingly, and slipped in through the door to Logan's apartment. "It just wasn't the only thing I wanted," she added.

"Yeah, I know," Logan reflected, casually, and switched on the lights. Oddly enough, he was actually a little nervous letting Rory into his apartment this time. Not so much because of what might happen even, but simply because he hadn't expected to bring anyone over tonight. And even if he said so himself - the place was a mess. He didn't have maid's coming twice a week anymore like he'd had during his time in New Haven, Manhattan and Palo Alto. Now he tried to be sensible and not spend too much when he had few steady clients so far. The cleaning service now only came if there was some major cleaning to be done - window washing, spring clearing, things like that.. Hence, it was not a situation he was very proud to present to anyone. Logan was capable in many things, but it was not like he'd actually ever learned the basic housekeeping skills at home, especially the consistency of it.
